Best On A Budget: Desert Boots

One of the hottest shoe trends for fall 2010 is the desert boot, seen here on Sarah Jessica Parker. The style icon paired hers with skinny jeans and an oversized sweater for a comfy, disheveled look that still reads chic. Opt for a desert boot-inspired wedge or flats to add a bit of rugged elegance to your fall wardrobe. Keep reading for 6 great desert boot options under $100.

Off the Rack: Tucker for Target

With Fashion Week over, I finally had a chance to head to my nearest Target to check out the newly launched Tucker by Gaby Basora collection. I found a delightful assortment of blouses, camisoles, skirts, dresses, one fur jacket and one tweed coat. The prints look expensive and the fabrics, though mostly polyester, work well with the designs and for once, they're not sheer! Hooray. The cuts are cool and wearable for women of all ages. Sizing seemed off; I could easily have taken a size L for the furry jacket (although the $79.99 pricetag was a major turnout) whereas I fit comfortably into a size XS tunic-style dress. The looks had a feminine retro feel that I'm really into right now and I could see the inspiration that designer Gaby Basora took from the movie The Passenger, which I rented after reading an interview in which Basora sighted the film as an inspiration. (Strange but good, I recommend seeing it.) I didn't buy anything because I need to save up and plan my fall wardrobe judiciously but I really liked a lot of the pieces and hope I can find them on sale in the coming weeks. What did you buy/love from this collection?

UK Style by French Connection Coming to Sears Next Spring

Sears is teaming up with British retailer French Connection to launch UK Style by French Connection, a new line of contemporary clothing and accessories for men, women and children.

In-store boutiques featuring UK Style for French Connection will arrive at 500 Sears stores and Sears.com in early 2011. Following the initial launch, Sears will introduce swimwear, footwear, sunglasses, jewelry, and other accessories along with items for the home.

Reports PRNewswire.com, "The women's collection offers floral leggings and striped tanks (from $9.90) along with patterned minis, sequined and animal-print shifts (starting at $29.90), designed to capture French Connection's joie de vivre. Inspired by street and runway fashions in international capitals, the men's collection offers dark-washed jeans ($24.90), button-down Oxford shirts ($24.90), and V-neck tees ($12.90)."

Wow. Loving those prices. I've always liked French Connection but felt it was overpriced so this has great potential. Now I won't know where to go first when I visit the mall, MNG for JCPenney? UK Style at Sears? Oh, the options!

The Look for Less: Theory Leather Panel Skirt

Theory's leather panel skirt retails for $200 at Saks Fifth Avenue. Wear it with a feminine blouse and ladylike heels for a chic modern look with a bit of edge.

Get the look for less from Anne Klein, whose leather panel skirt is $89.

If you want to try this look on a really tight budget, check out this skirt from Mossimo for Target, just $29.99. I saw it in person, it's a lot shorter and looks more like plastic than leather but a fun look-for-less option. I'm hoping I can get it on sale.
