Off the Rack: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's May Highlights

During a quick trip to Kohl's last week to buy a birthday present for a one-year old, I couldn't resist scoping out the latest LC Lauren Conrad collection offerings. I didn't have time to try anything on, but I snapped these pics to show you what you might find at your local store: Lots of easy-to-wear tops, casual dresses, and shorts that are perfect for spring and summer. Yet again, LC delivers modern, feminine styles that are sweet but not precious. It's the little details that make this line so appealing - a floral lining on a blush blazer, a cotton tank with artsy bow applique. The color palette and prints are tasteful, too, like the stripe halter maxi dress above. It's just really pretty and chic, the type of dress that's guaranteed to get you noticed for all the right reasons. If you can't get enough Lauren Conrad, check out her new beauty website, too.

Exchange Your Old Bridesmaid Dresses for Something New with NewlyMaid.com

UPDATE 6/17/2011: Read about my experience with Newly Maid here.

Deciding what to do with a bridesmaid dress after you've worn it to a wedding has been a conundrum that women have faced for eons. You could donate it, try to sell it or pass it on to a friend. Now, The Dessy Group - one of the leading makers of bridesmaid dresses (including the Lela Rose and Cynthia Rowley collections) - is offering a new solution: Simply send them your unwanted bridesmaid dress, from ANY brand, and they'll either donate it to charity (Clothes4Souls.org) or recycle it with the help of UNIFI, a global textile company. In exchange for donating your dress, you'll receive a special 30 – 50% credit value towards the purchase of a new, totally chic, totally wearable "any occasion" dress.

The Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Collections for Kohl's Fashion Preview

On Monday, May 2, Kohl's hosted an exclusive press preview in New York City for the Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Collections, which we first heard about here. The affordable collection of apparel, accessories and home decor will launch Fall 2011, exclusively at Kohl's stores and kohls.com.

Watch the short video above to hear J. Lo and Marc talk a little bit about their vision for the collection, plus hear what fashion editors like Nina Garcia think of this celebrity powerhouse fashion line.

I was skeptical at first but I feel like I've gotten to "know" J. Lo and Marc as a couple more since she's been on Idol and I'm feeling pretty confident that this likeable husband-and-wife-duo are going to deliver a great collection that Kohl's customers will love. What do you think?

Off the Rack: Calypso St. Barth for Target Photos and Review

Earlier this week, I checked out the Calypso St. Barth for Target collection and tried on a dozen or so dresses, tunics, bathing suits and the like. Each piece instantly whisked me away to beachy retreats along distant coasts (fashion can do that, you know). My favorites pieces on the racks were the colorful silk tunics with cool detailing like sequin trim or crochet accents. These ran true to size (or even a bit snug - I appreciate that the tunics are fitted for a slim, non-muumuu look but the armholes were a tad tight and there's not much give with fabrics like silk, cotton and linen. Of course, I'm not complaining about the awesome fabrics. It's great to see Calypso use natural, breathable fibers for a resort collection instead of polyester. That would have been disastrous.
