Off the Rack: Holiday Decor at Target

Target holiday decor

Oh, Target. You know me too well. A sequin Noel pillow; a houndstooth table runner; a monogram mug; Pottery Barn lookalike Christmas tree decorations. It's what budget-chic holiday dreams are made of. Did I buy any holiday decorations? No, but that's because my LO fusses every time I put him in his car seat, which also serves as his stroller seat. So I had to whisk him around the store quickly while making soothing car sounds ("Vroom! Vroom!" says the crazy lady.) He became suddenly quiet in the mirror aisle - apparently it's like an enchanted hall of mirrors for babies - so I carried one around with me for the duration of our visit to keep him happy. Next time I'll bring my Ergo. I ended up buying another Threshold mini mirror trio in the starburst pattern (already have the Moroccan trellis set in my half bath). I also bought a few cute things from the dollar bins in preparation for my sister's baby shower - yes, she's expecting her first and I couldn't be happier!

How are you decking the halls this season?

Off the Rack: November Highlights at Urban Outfitters

There's no avoiding it: Retailers are rolling out all their holiday merchandise, and at Urban Outfitters I spotted lots of sparkly holiday wardrobe options as well as the usual hipster gift paraphernalia. Admittedly, I saw a lot to get excited about, starting with a gorgeous ivory beaded dress (sadly it was $249 but worth stalking on sale). UO always provides great styling inspiration with their mannequins, too, layering cozy sweaters with floral skirts and ankle boots; oversized cardigans with color denim and infinity scarves, and over-the-knee socks with easy print dresses, perfect for fall. Even if you're not a regular UO shopper, it's worth making a trip for the embellished headbands (cheaper than Anthropologie but just as chic), cute gloves and beaded clutches. Check out the ankle boots as well, these Ecote ones were on sale for just $39.

Off the Rack: Cute Stuff at Old Navy and Marshalls

Boots at Marshalls

I made a whirlwind trip to Marshalls and Old Navy this week in search of Halloween costume wares (I was a gardener and baby was a garden gnome) but couldn't resist snapping pics of a few of the cute fashions I saw along the way! At Marshalls I was loving the Isabel Marant inspired booties by Rampage (shown above), Chelsea boots by Wanted and Rag & Bone lookalikes from Jessica Simpson. I also spotted a Rebecca Minkoff Mac in the most delicious cranberry hue, perfect for fall. At Old Navy, those critter sweaters were calling to me - gotta go back for one (or three!) - as were the embellished sweatshirts. So fun!
