Beauty Splurge vs. Steal of the Week: Clinique Moisture Surge

Clinique Moisture Surge dupe

In this weekly column, I’m bringing you my favorite budget-friendly beauty products that are available online and in-store. Also make sure to check out my blog, HonestlyJamie.com for even more beauty product reviews, tricks and tips.

First off, I want to start by saying that I loooove Clinique. Seriously, it’s one of my favorite brands and when I tried their Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator I was instantly in love, and so was my dry, sensitive skin. If you’ve never tried it, it’s a rich cream-gel that actually has clinical proof to dramatically improve and strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier after just three days of use. Now that’s pretty amazing, as anyone with dry and/or sensitive skin can attest to. The downside? It’s not cheap.

3 Ways to Wear: Over-the-Knee Boots

How to Style Over the Knee Boots 3 Ways

In this weekly column, I'm sharing three ways to style one cool piece to help you stretch those wardrobe dollars (in the most stylish way possible, of course!). For more real-girl-budget outfit ideas, check out my blog Life with Lyss.

I love getting requests for "how-to-style" articles! I took a request from @Wishes_Reality for over-the-knee boots and did some digging on Pinterest for some inspiration. Here are three of my favorite looks for fall and how to re-create them.

The Look for Less: J.Crew Store Brass Sphere

I love going into J.Crew stores to get inspiration not only for outfits, but for decor, too. My local store has the coolest artwork, creative window displays, even furniture and coffee table books. One such item I've often admired in my store is this set of two large brass open-work spheres. (I'm not really sure what else to call them - maybe someone knows what these are technically called? I've seen them in design magazines, too.) Spheres add balance when you're decorating and the brass finish reflects light in a pretty, subtle way:

About a week ago, I was at my local T.J.Maxx store when I spotted this similar looking (albeit much smaller) brass sphere by Elie Tahari Home for just $5.99! I knew I had to scoop it up. Right now it's just sitting by my mail on a Target chest near the front door but I'm sure I can use it to style a bookshelf or coffee table. Lots of possibilities!

I can't guarantee you'll find one of these at your T.J.Maxx/Marshalls store but it's worth looking. If you do find one, I'd love to see a photo - tag me on Instagram @budgetbabe!

Kohl’s to Debut Next DesigNation Collection by MILLY in Spring 2015

Milly for Kohl's coming next spring!

Kohl’s just announced their next designer collaboration will be with Milly - and I couldn't be more excited! Known for her modern silhouettes, bold prints and luxurious fabrics, Milly designer Michelle Smith will create a limited-edition collection inspired by Capri to launch in Spring 2015 exclusively at Kohl's and KOHLS.COM.

The MILLY for DesigNation collection will offer a complete range of dresses, skirts and tops in "custom prints and vibrant colors inspired by Capri’s luscious landscapes and dazzling blue sea." Prices for the collection will start at $38.

This partnership will be the sixth designer for the retailer’s DesigNation limited-edition collection. Today marks the launch of the Elie Tahari for Kohl's collection, which I'm heading out to see later this afternoon!

Who's beyond excited to see how Milly will translate for Kohl's?!

Mix It Up: The Most Stylish (and Affordable!) Smartphone Cases for Fall

Last weekend I was treated to an incredible week in southern California courtesy of Microsoft and Visit CA. (You may have caught snippets on Instagram!) While the whole trip was absolutely brilliant, one of my favorite experiences was visiting the museum at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising with our own personal tour guide, the one and only Nick Verreos!
