60 Second Beauty: Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer

Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer Review

Have you seen that catchy commercial where a girl gets out of the shower, gets dressed and is literally out the door in under 30 seconds? Who is this wonderwoman and how on earth did she streamline her beauty routine to such a degree? Of course, the commercial is meant to be playful and grab your attention for new Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer, a lotion that claims to be so easily absorbed, you don't have to wait to put your clothes on - and you can be on your way in mere seconds. Vaseline sent me a complimentary can of this product in the Total Moisture variety, and here's what I thought.

What they say: Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer ($7.99 for 6.5 oz can, 30 uses in a can) is a quick, convenient spray lotion that moisturizes deeply and asbords in seconds (less than 10), so women can put their clothes right on and get on with their day.

What I thought: I love Vaseline lotions in general because of the light, almost imperceptible scent and the fact that they do absorb quickly, last a long time and don't leave a greasy residue. Full disclosure: I've previously worked with Vaseline in a sponsored post capacity, and it was a natural fit because I use the product anyways and gave my honest opinions.

I had high hopes for Spray & Go and it's a great lotion, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't absorb nearly as quickly as the commercial leads you to believe. My first time using it, I definitely applied way too much of the product. Mind you, I've been having trouble getting my jeans on lately simply because I'm pregnant (bending over, not so fun) but trying to squeeze into my skinny jeans after applying the lotion was nearly impossible. The pants got stuck at my calves and I collapsed onto my bed in utter defeat.

Do as the girl in the commercial does: Spray one thin line of moisturizer on each body part, no more. That's all it takes to moisturize your entire body. The formula is a bit liquid-y and is meant to spread quickly with your hands, so you get great coverage with very little product.

Once I got the technique down (less product, wait longer), my jeans slipped right on. Go figure! I didn't use a timer but I'd say it took about three to four minutes for the lotion to absorb fully. Not a bad number for lotion absorption in the grand scheme of things but not under 10 seconds as the product claims.

Having said all this, I think Vaseline should market Spray & Go as a shaving lotion because ladies, this stuff works incredibly well for shaving!! I'm all about the spray applicator - it's genius. I've been using Spray & Go to shave my armpits and my legs and it's just brilliant. Unlike shaving cream, it doesn't dry up or dry your skin. It's like you can shave and moisturizer in one step. It's also gentle and non-irritating so my skin didn't get chafed from the razor.

The bottom line: I will stalk this product on sale and buy it to use as a shaving cream, and I'll probably just continue using the regular Vaseline Total Moisture for all other moisturizing needs.

Great review, glad it absorbed after a few tries :-). Yea, pants & preggo (or even shoes, socks) are a toughy ;-). I'm a big fan of spray-anything because I don't like introducing aerosols into the environment and also don't want little tiny lotion droplets everywhere (like rug, furniture, etc). Tried the spray SPF once at the beach and it mostly got into the air and everyone got sunburnt in at least one spot.

I have similar concerns with sprays - I should mention that this product is non-aerosol and sprays using only compressed air, so that's good. I was also concerned about potentially inhaling small particles of lotion but I didn't "see" any mist and I sprayed it really close to my skin just in case ;-)

I'd be curious if it actually lasts 30 uses like it claims too. I love using spray suntan lotions because of the ease of use, but I find that the sprays tend to go a LOT quicker than the regular lotion kind- but that may be because half of it gets lost in the wind when using outdoors :-)

Another good point - I haven't been counting but I will start. Also I only apply to my legs, not arms. I dunno but my arms don't seem to need any lotion :-)

If you like this as a shaving cream, you should try EOS's shave cream, super moisturizing.

Thanks for the rec, I've purchased EOS shave cream in the past and really enjoyed using it. It's hard to get all the product out of the container but aside from that it's great. Another shave cream I love is by Aubrey Organics:

Great review, intriguing product. The only thing missing is an SPF rating! No matter how great this product may be, you can't count on it for sun protection, which limits its usefulness.

Wow. I'm going to give it a shot both ways like you suggested: both to shave with and as a lotion.

Oh my gosh!! I was sent this moisturizer from a review site and I never thought of using it as a shave cream. I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow thanks for the idea!
