Prabal Gurung for Target Lookbook

The Prabal Gurung for Target lookbook is out, and while you've probably already seen this, I am dying to hear your thoughts! I'm feeling better for the first time in days and wanted to say thank you for all your kind get-well wishes. The flu sucks. So let's talk fashion! The Prabal Gurung for Target collection was inspired by a "tender love story, offering women’s apparel and accessories suitable for all occasions from the initial crush, to the first kiss, to everlasting love." Ranging in price from $19.99 to $199.99 for apparel and $12.99 to $39.99 for accessories and shoes, Prabal Gurung for Target will be available Feb. 10, 2013 at all Target stores and Target.com. It's been a while since I saw this collection in person at a Target press preview in New York City. Well, I loved it then, and I love it even more now. There are the bold, signature prints that Prabal fans adore but also sophisticated solids like that red dress with the ruffles - how hot would that look for Valentine's Day? The shoes are another highlight for me (those strappy sandals!), while the jewelry feels like an afterthought - could have skipped that.

You can also view the behind-the-scenes look book video on Target's ABullseyeView.

So, what do you think?? If you have specific questions about pricing, let me know and I'll do my best to answer.

I'm going to NEED the multi colored pointed toe flats, the wedge sandals in black and white, and the strappy heeled sandals in green! I also love the pleated green skirt with lace trim! Really excited for this one! I even set a reminder on my phone! Do you know if it will be available online at midnight the night before?

@Kristin - I'd start checking at midnight, others are welcome to chime in, but I've seen collections hit Target.com early in the past. It's tough to predict the exact time. I've seen stuff appear a few hours early by doing a google search - even if Target hasn't deployed the full collection sometimes you can go to the direct product pages a bit earlier ;-)

I love the two dresses in the "First Date" print, the sleeveless top and the sulphur pleated skirt. Can't wait to see this collection in person!

I cannot wait for this collection! The Target near by does not always get these collections so I can hope!! Every piece is more gorgeous than the next and I am glad to see reasonable prices, compared to the Nieman Marcus disaster!

Oh this looks awesome!!! All the shoes look fabulous. I am curious what items will have the $199 pricetag?
#5 Lauren on 2013-01-16 12:23 (Reply)
I think the only thing that's $199 is the blue leather jacket.
#5.1 Laura on 2013-01-16 13:12 (Reply)
@Laura is correct, the blue leather jacket is $199; the next most expensive items are $49.99 (like the blazer and two of the dresses). Most items are $39.99 and under.

I need all of this. I am really hoping this doesn't turn into Missoni where everything sells out in hours.

I am uber excited for this. I'm totally making a shopping list (so to not forget anything) and saving my shopping allowance for the big day. I'm so afraid of another Missoni fiasco that I might even get up early and be there at opening time!

It would be just my luck for my local store not to stock all the pieces though...

@LT - Some of the items are web exclusives so they will only be available at Target.com, just something to keep in mind!

THE SHOES!!!!!!! God those wedges are great. NEED. Google calendar reminder, here we go.

These colors are just stunning. I like the fearless, bold look the whole collection has. Couldn't have arrived at a better time for spring!

I'm obsessed with everything in this collection. I hope being near the headquarters of Target means I will get a chance to pick some of these things up. But I really hope to pick up at least two pairs of shoes, a skirt, and one of the tank tops.

I ADORE the colors in this collection. I HATE the fact that the model badly needed to brush her hair. The messy hairdo did not add anything to these photos. I love the multi-colored sandals that will go with everything. I am extremely bummed that it goes on sale 2/10 -- the very day I leave for a vacation to the Caribbean. Some of these items would be perfect.

I LOVE this collection! I haven't been this excited (or excited at all really) for a Target collection since Missoni or Liberty of London. I love bright, bold prints so this is right up my alley. I already have a list of what I want to try and an in-store strategy. I hope Target limits this collection like they did for the Neiman Marcus one - so each person can't buy more than 2 or 3 of the same thing. I'm glad I'm short so some of the dresses won't be as short on me. Thanks for mentioning that some things will be web only. If you find out which ones are web only, will you let us know? I don't like the jewelry or black and white pieces, but that's a relief because I love almost everything else! Since you got to see everything in person, do you remember anything about the fabrics used? I am kind of little, so I ended up getting some Liberty of London kids things over the adult ones because the fabric was cotton rather than polyester. I'm glad you're feeling better! The flu is awful!
#12 Laura on 2013-01-16 18:19 (Reply)
@Laura - I inquired about the fabrics at the preview, even took notes, then promptly managed to lose them! From memory I believe there were some real silk fabrics used. Let me get the details for you! I don't recall much cotton based on touch but the synthetics were soft, draped nicely, won't wrinkle, and the colors looked rich and vibrant in person.
#12.1 The Budget Babe on 2013-01-16 22:25 (Reply)
@Laura - Ok, here's an update on materials used in the collection:

Ready-to-wear: crepe, jersey, chiffon, faux leather, lace, satin and sweater knits

Jewelry: base metals (costume jewelry) and hematite stone

Shoe: faux leather and cotton sateen

Clutches: lace, satin and faux patent leather

Thanks for letting us know about the fabrics! I hope this isn't a madhouse like Missoni! Is there anything you plan to pick up?
#12.2.1 Laura on 2013-01-17 17:48 (Reply)
@Laura - My plan is to try a bunch of things on and see what works, hopefully one printed floral piece (preferably a dress) and maybe ...another dress ;-)

I'm so excited for this! I love Target collaborations and I can't believe I didn't know about this. Thanks for this post- I'll be grabbing a few things from this collection!

After the Neiman Marcus flop, I am super-excited for this collection! Unique pieces, affordable prices ... we're back to what a Target collaboration SHOULD be!

I agree, the jewelry I can live without, but I I'll definitely check out the evening bags. I could use a new clutch! Also, the wedge shoes remind me of a Sam Edelman style I picked up last year.

All of the shoes and several of the dresses are amazing. I will be hitting both Targets near me the day these come out!

OMG, I am in so much trouble. This collection is stunning and I seriously can own everything you just shared with us here. Thanks for sharing and I seriously can't wait!

I love the second outfit down from top to bottom, handbag too! There are many pieces in this collection that I love. I still ended up with quite a few Neiman pieces especially at 50% & 70% off. :-) However, this one looks worth it at full price. Can't wait!

ohhhh, if i can lose the baby weight by this summer, a couple of the more ladylike looks from this collection may be cute for my sip-and-see baby shower :-) LOVE!
