Simply Vera Vera Wang Revisited: Gotta Love the Shoes

Simply Vera Vera Wang Gladiators

It's been a while since I've posted anything about Vera Wang's affordable collection for Kohl's, Simply Vera Vera Wang, and I think it's time to revisit the subject. First, I must say that I've defended this line's prices for far too long: It's too freakin' expensive! There, I said it. Sure, you can score great deals on this stuff when it's on sale (I almost bought a lovely LBD yesterday for $19 but figured I didn't really need it). And yes, combined with Kohl's' legendary coupons and Kohl's credit card discounts, those great deals can become great bargains. But I still experience sticker shock each time I look at those full price numbers, especially the $100 nylon handbags and $50 thin polyester blouses.

Having said that, I still love Vera and I think you'd be hard pressed to find another collection as creative and artsy anywhere else for much less. Simply Vera is also targeted towards a more mature female audience, and I think there's some great office wear and a nice range of sizes, something which can't be said for, say, Target's GO International collections.

Simply Vera Vera Wang

On a positive note, I am often impressed by the tasteful Simply Vera Vera Wang shoe offerings. They're not perfect, but they provide a stylish, structured counterpoint to the more billowy, deconstructed looks that make up the clothing collection. Here are some photos I snapped during yesterday's trip—those navy patent wedges were calling my name! Also loved the pewter gladiator sandals, sadly, the straps were too loose and didn't provide enough stability when walking.

Are you a Simply Vera fan? What are your thoughts on the collection now that it's been around for a year and a half? (More photos after the jump...)

Those navy wedges are cute! They'd look great with a nautical themed dress for spring.

I agree completely: The garments are overpriced, but the shoes are sensational.

The ballet peep-toe flats look interesting. I'll have to keep my eyes out for those when I can use a coupon or a have one of those 40% off sales

I was so excited about Vera Wang's collection for Khols. But I was completely disappointed with it when I saw it in person. Like you said it is way overpriced and I was not impressed by any of what I saw.

I'm not running out to get any of these... I don't dislike them, just none of them really grab.

I LOVE Simply Vera. I only buy when it's at least 40% off. There's always a good selection since I think everyone waits to buy when it's on sale. I always check out the shoes, however, they are all made so hard and stiff that they hurt my feet.

Wow, I didn't even realize Simply Vera included shoes. Must check out!

I don't like the Simply Vera collection because the cut of her clothes do not fit right on me and I think it's overpriced. Personally, I prefer the ELLE collection at Kohls =)

I personally love a lot (not everything) in the Vera Wang collection. In fact, those gold gladiators caught my eye today. I am 41 though so I agree that her line is better for my age group in a lot of ways. Also, I totally agree that the full price is too much. BUT I never pay full price at Kohls. I will only purchase when it is on sale and/or coupons. I buy a lot of Vera tees for layering with cardigans. Also, her belts are great. In fact, I often find amazing deals on Vera Wang purses and shoes when I wait till clearance time. Of course, you won't find everything you coveted, but I just bought a wonderful neutral beige purse (original price $98) for $13.00.

I was not that impressed with the collection either. Overpriced, cheap... The shoes are like $70 yet they're not even leather!

I love the Simply Vera Wang shoe line. You can't find a better made shoe for that price. I love heels and often can't find any that look good and are comfortable enough to wear at work all day. Vera's shoes solved that problem for me. I broke my foot 7wks ago and her shoes are the only ones that I have that I can still wear comfortably. Also, I buy when they go on sale, because at Kohls' you know they will. They are well worth the money at sale price.

I love the Simply Vera shoe line also. I am 6 months pregnant and my shoe size is really
crazy. I have been looking for cute jazzy
shoes my entire pregnancy. I am not a flip -
flop type of girl so that was not an option.
I happen to go in Kohl's an yesterday and saw
the shoe line. And it fits me perfectly. I
purchase all the colors of the peep-toe flats
with the rhonestone chain detail. They fit
great. I also purchase the criss-cross sandal
in black and it fits great. And they were all
just $28.97. I will shop this brand more often.

I was not a big fan of the store itself, but I believe the collection was a good bussiness move for Kohl's. Now I will be shopping there for sure because I do love Vera :-)

I bought one pair of simply vera, and I was in love. This collection was a huge dissappointment and does not do her justic with all the shoes I love in her other collections.
