MNG by Mango for JCPenney Fall 2010 Lookbook

MNG by Mango for JCPenney Fall 2010 Lookbook

At long last, we got our hands on the fall 2010 lookbook photos from MNG by Mango for JCPenney collection which made its highly anticipated debut at the end of August, courtesy of JCP. In case you're not familiar with Mango, it's a popular Spanish-based fashion chain similar to Zara or a higher-end H&M. Scarlett Johansson is the current face of Mango, while Penelope Cruz and her sister have guest-designed for the brand in the past.

I first fell in love with Mango when did a study abroad program in Spain back in college, everything seemed so Euro-chic and affordable. Judging by these pics and the products on jcp.com, it looks like that effortless, European runway aesthetic is definitely intact. Highlights include a printed ruffle-neckline sundress (already on sale for $55.92), oversize woven brown tote (sale $39.92) and leather peep-toe booties (sale $119.92).

MNG by Mango will offer career and casual women's sportswear as well as handbags, accessories and footwear, with merchandise arriving twice monthly. Available in 77 JCPenney stores and jcp.com beginning in fall 2010, MNG by Mango and will expand into 600 stores by fall 2011. I can't wait to check this line out in person and if I have to wait for sales, I'll be patient and wait!

More pics after the jump…

I saw this today at the mall. Definitely very high-end displays. The clothing looked nice quality as I'm sure it is but not anything I would love to wear.

The clothes appear very H&M-esq... definitely not something that I'd typically see at JCP. While what they have in the lookbook seems great, I wouldn't purchase anything because they're still overpriced in relative to similar brands. IMO, I can't imagine that MNG would do well at JCP either because JCP shoppers wouldn't want to spend $50 on a plaid top. For that price, I'd rather purchase a similar top at Gap or J. Crew because at least I know the quality for those brands stand up to the price (for the most part).

I was going to say the same exact thing. I coincidentally saw this collection today and while I loved it and found its quality and fashionableness (is that even a word?) much better than anything else in the store at the moment, I just don't see it working well in JC Penny considering the prices. There was a sign that said everything in the collection was 20%, but I think more than that will be needed to sell the collection there... sorry JCP/MNG

JCP customers are reacting nicely to MNG. The quality and tailoring of the collection is exquisite. The price point is higher because of the design and quality of the pieces. Great Fabrics and construction, and beautiful fashion that is on trend with the season. The prices to me are actually quite reasonable. A perfectly fitted, glamorous suit jacket for under $100 is a lovely find. You will also find pieces as low as $15. And yes, it is available online. JCPenney has really stepped up their style. I have seen their MNG looks in the magazines InStyle and People :-)

I screamed when i saw MNG at JCPenney. It is one of the top clothing stores in Europe, very stylish, chic and of very very high quality too. its as good as if not better. I am from Spain and that's how i know of MANGO. If you want good quality you have to pay for it and believe me the prices at JCP for MNG are good. AND THE MGN IS A BRAND, SO IS NOT SO PRIECY TAKE CARE ALL OF YOU :-)

What a great collab! I especially love the handbags.

I thought you might like my post about how to wear a denim shirt! Using one article of clothing multiple ways is definitely a BB trick. :-)

Cheers,
Kim

I'm afraid this line may be a bit too expensive for the usual JC Penney shopper. If JCP is using Mango to "draw in" a different type (read: upscale) customer, and they succeed, then more power to them. But I was at a JCP in a suburban Calif. mall this past weekend, and although the store was packed with shoppers, they were buying everything BUT the Mango. In fact, I saw several shoppers stop, look, and scoff at the price tags.

That's what I thought when they launched the American Living collection but apparently I was wrong (a typical dress from the American Living collection is priced at $90-$100, in line with MNG by Mango). And yet to my surprise, JCP shoppers responded quite positively to the collection. I wait for sales and use coupons, it's the only way to shop JCP imo :-)

Also, I'm inclined to say JCP quality is better than H&M. The stuff I have from the American Living collection has held up really well. There's still way too much polyester at JCP but I think they're heading in the right direction.

We'll have to wait and see!

MNG by Mango is actually intended to do just that, draw in new customers, more specifically the customer between 18-35. JCP is stepping up their style, and so have made the bold decision to launch a new fast fashion brand. The hope is that everyone who shops there already will see the value of MNG. MNG is already drawing in new customers, even customers who have never shopped at JCPenney. These customers may already know of the great designs and quality of MNG, and are more than willing to spend more for this. These customers appreciate fashion and style, and are much like the customer who shop at the Sephora inside JCPenney.

I am a huge MNG fan! I will definitely check out the collection at JCP. Thanks for the tip, BB.

MNG is also available online if anyone is interested. Just check their return policy though. Euro retailers are far less lenient that American retailers.

The only way to shop at JCP is with cupons or with sales! You never buy anything at JCP at full price! Wait a week or two and the new stuff is totally discounted.

I shop at JCP a lot. Their quality is better than H&M and Kohls in my opinion. There is a line called "She Said" that I love. Check it out!

Agreed.

JCPenney has really stepped up their game! I'm so impressed with this collection, probably more so because its Mango but the fact that JCPenney is carrying more of these fab collaborations makes me more apt to shop there. LOVE the dress in the sixth picture!

I like what I see, I got and email about this and plan on going into my local JCP to see if its hit the rack in my part of town. You know the southeast region is alway delayed by a week or two. I see some pieces I can use but I do plan on using a coupon or waiting for a markdown. Though the items were like $20 to $40 higher then they should be for JCP standards.

Looks like I'll need to make a trip! I love the suiting they've got!

The clothes seem very high quality, and not vanity sized, thankfully. I agree with the poster that this was intended to draw new customers, not your typical JCP customer. So glad that I have 2 stores near me that are carrying this line. And when you get a coupon for $10 off $25, it makes these items a great value for the price. I already have 5 items.
#14 Charlotte on 2010-09-15 15:47 (Reply)
You have to remember how many coupons JCP gives out.

There are 10 off 25 floating around, and whenever you make a JCP purchase the back of your receipt allows you to do a survey for 15% off of your next purchase, and you can use that 15% with other coupons!

This line has been at JCPenney for only a couple of months and a bunch of the items have sold out already.. I've been keeping my eye on the collection online and it seems that many of the products I liked, are now gone! And many of the jeans only have a couple of sizes left in stock. You pay for your quality, plus Mango is a European fast fashion runway brand, with spokesperson Scarlett Johansson. You can't expect it to be cheap! The issue is that it's just not such a well known brand in the U.S. but when I travel the world, people go crazy over MNG and their boutiques are found at many locations around the world and in some high end cities in the USA. The fact that JCPenney actually has MNG on sale is amazing. Most MNG stores either have their products full priced or no more than 20% off. JCPenney has them 20-40% + around 30 of the 200 or so MNG items are on clearance 40-80%. You can't find that anywhere else! Plus don't forget JCPenney coupons work on the MNG clothing line. Mango never has coupons at their stores. The best you can do is 20% at MNG boutiques, when at JCPenney you can get an average of around 35-50% final price on most of the MNG products. People should definitely take advantage of this high end brand at such a great price. It might be pricey compared to the other brands JCPenney might have, but those other brands are not made with such superior quality. American Living is a Ralph Lauren brand and Ralph Lauren never dissapoints with his quality of any brand that he designs that's why his brand at JCPenney is a bit more pricey than other brands. It's really mid-priced but JCPenney shoppers seem to be a bit greedy and want this for practically free! (no offense) but that's what I've noticed!
