Earlier I shared some photos of celebrities wearing Thakoon for Kohl's, now here's my review complete with dressing room selfies! In many ways I have no business commenting on fit seeing as how I'm 30 weeks pregnant, but I can still comment on the styling and quality. Surprisingly many of the pieces were very flattering as "maternity" tops - I'm not sure that's the kind of endorsement DesigNation is looking for but it's true.
To begin, my store didn't have many pieces from the collection. I was the only customer looking at the two racks. The color palette is dark, mostly black and dark blue with a few fall florals. All the DesigNation collections are inspired by global destinations - Thakoon chose London for his inspiration. But there's no way he had a hand designing the pieces with cheesy London motifs like a double-decker bus, crown, or bowler hat. These seemed like an afterthought and could have been left out of the collection entirely. The strong pieces showed some design, like the cool plaid vest (sadly not at my store) or the colorblock print-hem tee, which I tried on in a size L and actually really liked.
I also tried on the cardigan in size medium (a bit scratchy), this mock-layer crewneck sweater (soft and feminine), this London sweater (size XL, the writing looks cheap but the sweater is super soft and lightweight), and this peasant top (size XL, surprisingly flattering and pretty but not special).
If I weren't pregnant I would have picked up this print pocket shirt but I'm not sure what size I'll be post baby.
As for pricing, it's Kohl's, so everything's already on sale (scroll down to see a photo of all the prices with sale prices). Overall Thakoon for Kohl's is underwhelming but offers some stylish pieces for someone who needs a more polished office look. I watch enough Project Runway to know what the judges would say: It's just not fashion forward.
Have you checked out Thakoon at Kohl's? What did you think?

Yeah, I have to say, except for a couple of the tops, I was kind of meh about this collection in store. I really like the blue/black blouse with stripe detail and the crown print blouse. I wanted to see the plaid coat in person, but alas! Not meant to be.
