Here's My Thakoon for Kohl's Review Complete with Dressing Room Selfies and In-Store Pics

A review of Thakoon for Kohl's
Earlier I shared some photos of celebrities wearing Thakoon for Kohl's, now here's my review complete with dressing room selfies! In many ways I have no business commenting on fit seeing as how I'm 30 weeks pregnant, but I can still comment on the styling and quality. Surprisingly many of the pieces were very flattering as "maternity" tops - I'm not sure that's the kind of endorsement DesigNation is looking for but it's true.

To begin, my store didn't have many pieces from the collection. I was the only customer looking at the two racks. The color palette is dark, mostly black and dark blue with a few fall florals. All the DesigNation collections are inspired by global destinations - Thakoon chose London for his inspiration. But there's no way he had a hand designing the pieces with cheesy London motifs like a double-decker bus, crown, or bowler hat. These seemed like an afterthought and could have been left out of the collection entirely. The strong pieces showed some design, like the cool plaid vest (sadly not at my store) or the colorblock print-hem tee, which I tried on in a size L and actually really liked.

I also tried on the cardigan in size medium (a bit scratchy), this mock-layer crewneck sweater (soft and feminine), this London sweater (size XL, the writing looks cheap but the sweater is super soft and lightweight), and this peasant top (size XL, surprisingly flattering and pretty but not special).

If I weren't pregnant I would have picked up this print pocket shirt but I'm not sure what size I'll be post baby.

As for pricing, it's Kohl's, so everything's already on sale (scroll down to see a photo of all the prices with sale prices). Overall Thakoon for Kohl's is underwhelming but offers some stylish pieces for someone who needs a more polished office look. I watch enough Project Runway to know what the judges would say: It's just not fashion forward.

Have you checked out Thakoon at Kohl's? What did you think?

I really like that cardigan, so I'm sad to hear it was a bit scratchy. That's #1 factor for me with sweaters. I might check it out if I see it in stores, but I won't be rushing out for it. Thanks for the pics/reviews!

ooh I like how the black and floral sweater and that cozy cardi look on you (but scratchy is no good!)! Did you end up getting anything?

Definite boo on the vest! Why is it usually the piece you want the most that's missing?!?

First comment here!

Yeah, I have to say, except for a couple of the tops, I was kind of meh about this collection in store. I really like the blue/black blouse with stripe detail and the crown print blouse. I wanted to see the plaid coat in person, but alas! Not meant to be.

I'm kind of loving this collection especially the fringed cardigan! I like the graphic tees too, but they would probably sit unworn. And you, my friend, look amazing!

I like the colors in the burgundy/merlot top and the feminine flower print. The decorative pocket adds interest to an otherwise tailored striped shirt but I wonder if that would work on this 36 D lady. Perhaps it would be appropriate with a jacket for work, and then without it for a Happy Hour date afterwards. Note to designers, different body types are enhanced by a variety of lengths of jackets and cardigans. That's why the selection above wouldn't be a good fit for me.

Thanks for showing us samples of new designer collections. I'll be signing up for your subsequent emails today.

First time I truly fall in love completely with an entire collection. The designer is just so amazing for being able to create such a wonderful and unique style. I was able to buy 51 garments total. Looking at the beautiful model, I got so creative and was able to perfectly match and put together several outfits. I have cero objection to the fabrics, the colors of the prints. To me it is just plain perfection!!! Good job to this wonderful, well known famous designer! I love it!!!
