Name That Knock-Off: See-Through Wedges

Rianna Metallic Wedge, $22.80 at Forever 21
Designers are always looking for new ways to reinterpret the shoe, and so it follows that the heel of the shoe has become a locus for sartorial reinvention. Or, in the case of copycats such as Forever 21 (bless their soles), the heel becomes the object of imitation. Now, I could be wrong about these Rianna Metallic Wedges (above), but I'm pretty sure they copied a certain American designer who created a certain stand-out, see-through wedge this past season...so that's your clue. Can you guess who got knocked-off? Answer's after the jump...

Yes, the designer original is the KORS Michael Kors "Danger" Wedge, which goes for $234 at Zappos.com. You saw right through that one, I'm sure.

I LOVE Michael Kors, but I only hold out for sales. My fav. pair of shoes ever are a pair of 5-inch black suede Michael Kors boots that I got for $15 online.

yay, i guessed right! these shoes are a great alternative. my one thing with f21 shoes is that you must try them on before purchasing. i own a pair that is ridiculously comfortable, but another one that i simply can't bring myself to wear outside of the house.

Huh. The F21 knockoffs are usually more appealing to me. I think it's the combination of metallic and matte, but the Riannas just look cheap. I guess they've gotta keep it different enough to avoid potential lawsuits ... but I just think "old broads playing shuffleboard," for some reason.
