Four Silky Shorts: Would You Wear One?

Inspired by Chloé's Spring 2009 runway, I set out to find some relaxed fit shorts in either silk or satin, and discovered the best ones on a budget can currently be found at Express. I can easily see these seductive bottoms transitioning from day to night, but I don't think they're appropriate office attire. Paired with heels and a tuxedo jacket, I think these shorts would be best worn as a cocktail dress alternative. So would I wear them? Absolutely. How about you? (P.S. Most of the shorts shown above are available in different colors, so check them out using the widget below to see all your options.)

Ahh we are so on the same wavelength. I was looking at these ones yesterday too! Not sure which I would wear, I saw a certain pair of dark goldish khaki ones in a magazine (can't remember which one) that I really wanted but maybe they aren't in stores yet. Anyhoo, great picks!

Oooh, gotta pass on this one. I can just IMAGINE the wrinkles.

So cute, shorts are my favorite summertime going out look, so easy to wear with gladiator flats and a cute tank. Just make sure any only choose one of the following to wear with the short shorts though, heels or a tank, with both I think it is a little too much! I like #3 best though, kind of a retro 40's pinup, I can't wait for warmer weather :-)

I'm loving the look, too. I actually tried on #1 at the store, but found that it didn't work on my body shape. (I have curvy hips, which made the pockets stick out strangely when I sat.) But #3 is super-cute. I'll have to go back to try it!

Nikki I am with you. I do not think this would flatter my shape. I am curvey as well, with muscular legs. It would highlight all the wrong areas.

Sal, I didn't even think of the wrinkles! I'm worried about that, and about how they would drape and the shine attracting attention to the hip and butt area. I think I'd have to judge on a case-by-case basis.

I had exactly the same silk shorts in the early 90's which I wore to our special events. Of course, they're not for beach wear or any summer activity outside.
Girls, don't worry about the wrinkles, they would not drape longer than a few seconds, because they're made of silk, they get loose and go back to shape again. Silk don't wrinkle when you just wear them.

Maybe in a slimming black they might look alright? I actually think they'd be great semi-formal office wear with some black tights and a crisp ruffled blouse and blazer.
