First Glance: Libertine for Target's GO International

We just had our first peek at the new offerings from GO design duo Libertine for Target which arrived in stores and online July 15. Yes, we're excited because frankly, we get excited over each new GO collection, and yes, we will be heading to a store near us to see it up close and personal as soon as possible.

Having said that, we're not that impressed with this line overall. Maybe the candy-coated punk-meets-prep look just isn't our style. However, there were a few cute, clever items involving skulls and whales. And we're total suckers for these mesmerizing, brightly colored cardigans made from 95% cotton, 5% cashmere. They're just plain yummy. For $29.99 a pop, we may have to get our fix with more than just one color combination.

Check out Libertine's collection and tell us what you think.

i think the clothes are cute.
the whales are right out of lily pulitzer.
and the fact that they use natural fabrics (cotton & cashmere) is a definite plus. enough already with the plastic clothes!
like you, though, i'll reserve judgement till i see the quality.

We were looking for a palm tree/skull combo too, but no luck ;-)

Definitely curious to see what 5% cashmere feels like, but at least its a natural fiber :-)

I bought the lace ruffle skirt, ruffle neck jacket, and rhinestone skull tank. They're all super cute and have a low-rent Alexander McQueen vibe going on, which I mean as a compliment.

I didn't care too much for the candy-colored items myself -- I prefer to look like a pirate :-D

We have a weakness for bright colors and shiny things in general...must be a magpie gene in us!

Maybe our gripe is with the styling on Target.com, and not the garments themselves. For example, the ruffle neck jacket you speak of is fly on its own, but paired with a bubble-gum pink mini, it just ain't right. :-)
