Off the Rack: Dana Buchman for Kohl's

Off the Rack: Dana Buchman for Kohl's
ZEBRA PRINT: The collar says classy, the signature animal print says sassy.

The new-ish Dana Buchman for Kohl's collection has been in stores for a few months, so I thought now would be a good time to weigh in on what we're seeing for summer. Overall, I'm impressed with the line because it offers solid options for budget shoppers, especially the mature fashionista. It has all the underpinnings of "designer" clothing, that is, classic and conservative cuts in a sophisticated color palette and artfully designed prints. It hints at global travels and smacks of resort-wear. (Think Tory Burch if you're not familiar with Buchman's design aesthetic.) In terms of sizing, I was surprised to see this line stop at 16. Prices could always be lower, but everything always goes on sale at Kohl's and nothing I saw topped $100. Even if the vibe isn't your thing, I'd say give it look next time you're at Kohl's and see if there's something like a tunic or pretty skirt that you can work into your own wardrobe.

Have you checked out this collection? What did you think?

I like it but not enough to own anything yet...

I think everything looks extremely boxy and unflattering. Not my thing.

I agree with Claire, there are so many boxy pieces. I tried on several tunics and even with a belt they were still not flattering on the body. Too bad, there are some adorable colors, etc.

However, I do own a few basic tops, got them on clearance, very cheap! Otherwise, I wouldn't have purchased them, it is a bit pricey, but on sale/clearance it is worth a shot, but is always "hit or miss."

I like the blue top with gold Cleopatra embroidery and the Ikat print jacket, but everything else seems kind of meh -- not the uniqueness and originality I'd expect from a designer line. But a couple of those prints are standouts.

I like her designs a lot, and I was upset tho that her line stops at 16. She does make a plus size line, and hopefully, she will expand for Kohls. I really am starting to dig on her stuff, fall/winter 08 I wasn't crazy about...

I too was VERY surprised (and disappointed) that Buchman's line for Kohl's did not include plus sizes especially since her plus size bridge line sold so well. Let's hope Kohl's sees the error of its way and adds plus. I think the Kohl's line is quite similar to what her bridge line was like in terms of style with (obviously) must cheaper fabric.

I think some of these items will look great on my mom. She has been stuck shopping at JPC for years. Kohl's is starting to get in item that are attracting her finally!
