My New Leather Jacket from Forever 21

Everyone seems to be looking for an affordable leather jacket this time of year, a perennial "must-have" for fall. Recently I posted about where to find a genuine leather jacket under $200, and today I've rounded up some faux-leather options that are surprisingly just as good.

Although I hadn't planned on buying one this season (I thought my look was getting progressively less edgy, but then realized even I could incoporate this style into my wardrobe), a little over a week ago I picked up a faux-leather biker jacket at Forever 21 for just $39.50—and I love it! I've only had the chance to wear it once so far. I've been vacationing in Quebec, Canada, (posting from various internet hot spots) but the weather's been gorgeous and way too warm.

Anyways, manufacturers have made a lot of progress in the way this pleather stuff moves, bends and feels. It's a modern marvel, I tell ya. I suspect this won't be the last leather jacket post of the season as stores continue to roll out fall merchandise. If you've had luck in this department, too, share where you bought yours in the comments.

Thanks. It's also from F21, picked it up on the same trip:

You're so right - faux leather is MUCH more convincing looking these days than it was even 5 years ago. Your new jacket is just fantastic, BB! I'm sure it'll get tons of use come fall.

I recently bought a real leather motorcycle jacket from Neiman Marcus on sale for $195. Some of the prices for those faux ones are just as much.

more importantly, where did you get those jeans?! mine never stay that skinny and always stretch out

Jeans are from Uniqlo in NYC, unfortunately they don't have an estore yet that ships to the US but hopefully they'll open one soon!

I was going to buy that jacket - F21 makes some excellent fakes. Still might buy that jacket too :-P

I just scored a black, real leather one on Ebay though, NWT and for $40. Sounds too good to be true, so I'll see :-)

I have a dark brown one with a hood that I bought at H&M for about $70 total last year and is still in good condition. One thing to make note of when purchasing a faux leather jacket is if it makes that plastic squishy sound when the sleeves rub against other parts of the jacket. I recieved a black one for xmas from Macys that did that and felt a tad embarrased in class when the sounds would happen lol. Nordstrom Rack also has some cute ones in store right now.

I bought the Ashton Pleather jacket from Delia's when it went on sale from $69.50 to $29.99. I learned about it from your site too, so thanks BB! I've worn it several times and LOVE it. It's warm, comfortable and when I wore it out, people didn't know it was pleather.

I recently bought a leather jacket from there (I posted the link below) and I LOVE IT TO DEATH. I don't know about the picture, but it looks amazing in person. I haven't worn it soon/taken pictures of me wearing it, but definitely will soon.

I bought a great one at Express for about $118 and it had a detachable fur collar. It looks just like the uber expensive ones in the department stores and feels just like leather.

...is it ok if I wear my now-vintage Banana Republic leather bomber jacket that I bought NEW in....1988? Still in totally wearable condition. g

Great find! While real leather is ideal for most, sometimes it's hard to save up and you just need that jacket right away! This Forever 21 version looks great. And it's good to know it doesn't feel pleathery.

I was thinking about buying one from F21 but I was not too sure about the quality(for obvious reasons) let me know how it holds up!

Just bought a similar faux leather jacket at Target for $29.99. Of course leather would be better, but I'm not blowing $300 on a jacket now. Back in 1994, I'd bought a real motorcycle jacket for $195 and I'd lost it. Waaah.

I'm so glad leather jackets are back! I scored a fitted, real leather motorcycle jacket from Fairweather about 5 years ago for the bargain basement price of $99! Now I can haul it out of the closet.

BTW, I have the same sandals you're wearing in the pic, but in white. Love them!

Killer. It's perfect on you, Dianna. How did you ever think you could live without one! To me, this looks “so you”. LOVE!

I love that jacket! I saw a really nice brown one at H&M for about $60. It is more shrunken, has a knit neckline and wristband.

I had the same leather jacket! I just recently noticed that I lost it/must have misplaced it somewhere. It was my all time favorite jacket and am really upset at myself for having lost it. Have been looking all over for a replacement online, but no luck ): If you're ever considering selling yours....heh heh.
