Beauty Review: Avon Advance Techniques Anti-Frizz Capsules

Beauty Review: Avon Advance Techniques Anti-Frizz Capsules

Recently Avon sent me a few samples of products from their new hair care line, including a container of Advance Techniques Anti-Frizz Capsules. My hair has always been a bit wavy and prone to frizz at the first signs of humidity, and it only got worse when I started highlighting it. So I've always been on the lookout for products that can tame my frizz with a minimum amount of effort required on my behalf. I have yet to find the Holy Grail of de-frizz smoothing serums (currently I apply a dab of Pantene Pro V Restoratives Frizz Control Ultra Smoothing Balm onto damp hair, then blow-dry), but these Avon anti-frizz capsules are among some of the most effective products I've tried—I didn't say they were perfect, but they work on wet or dry hair, helping to smooth frizz and flyaways without making hair (or your hands) feel gross or smell stinky.

Beauty Review: Alba Hawaiian Spa Treatments

Beauty Review: Alba Hawaiian Spa Treatments

Recently I received four complimentary products from Alba Hawaiian Spa Treatments, a line of natural hypo-allergenic personal care products inspired by the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. Days when I get a package like that make me really love my job, I'm not gonna lie.

I've been using the [1] Honeydew Nourishing Hair Conditioner, [2] Papaya Mango Exfoliating Body Wash, [3] Pineapple Enzyme Facial Cleanser and [4] Coconut Milk Body Cream for the past couple weeks and I seriously love them all. While none of the products have dramatically improved the quality of my hair or skin, let's face it, I'm very practical when it comes to beauty products and I don't expect miracles. But what I do demand is a product that works and won't make things worse, and that's what I've consistently found with all Alba products that I've tried so far (and I've used a couple of their products in the past which I purchased myself at Whole Foods and Target).

Beauty Review: Psssssst Instant Dry Shampoo

Beauty Review: Psssssst Instant Dry Shampoo

What it is: Psssssst is the original dry shampoo for refreshing your style between shampoos (it was invented back in the '70s)

What it does: Psssssst Instant Dry Shampoo claims to refresh and rejuvenate hair by soaking up excess oil, removing product build-up and boosting volume. By shampooing less it saves hair from heat styling damage. Hair looks, feels and smells freshly shampooed. It also helps preserves hair color by shampooing less.

How to use it: Shake can well. Hold can 6" to 8" from hair. Lift sections of hair and lightly spray scalp and roots of each section. Fluff. Wait a few minutes, then brush hair well. Style hair as desired.

Get the Look: Liv Tyler's Hair Look at the MET Ball

Last night's star-studded 2010 Met Gala was an incredible night for fashion (it's the Oscars of the East Coast after all) but it was also an inspirational night for beauty and hair looks, too. One look in particular stood out for me, namely the gorgeous Liv Tyler. While I did not love the odd train on her cocktail-length black and nude lace dress, her tousled, carefree updo caught my attention for all the right reasons. Keep reading to find out how Pantene Stylist Hallie Bowman created Liv's hairstyle!
