Macy's Ready-to-Wear Spring 2011 Lookbook

For Spring 2011, Macy's is celebrating the season with four main trends: Ocean View, Urban Island, Mediterraneus and Rainforest. This means we can look forward to harmonious colors inspired by nature, sophisticated utility, modern day goddess-inspired attire and rich combinations of textures, colors and silhouettes. Must-have pieces to get the looks include airy knits, flirty skirts, Grecian draped dresses, chic jackets, slim cropped pants as well as slouchy cuffed trousers. I love how Rachel Rachel Roy mixes prints and plays with proportion. And check out that pastel nail polish the models are sporting - gotta have it!

Simply Vera Vera Wang Spring 2011 Lookbook

Here's a first look at the Simply Vera Vera Wang Spring 2011 collection, featuring clothing, shoes and accessories ranging from $24 for a printed tank to $109 for a patent tote bag, which is just starting to show up at kohls.com and Kohl's stores. Ah, spring! "Bold patterns mix with neutral tones, creating a striking visual contrast. Bright florals and embellishments pair with classic silhouettes for an effortlessly chic look," read the collection notes. I'm loving the pops of honeysuckle pink, the lightweight layering and, most of all, the shoes! Standout pieces for me include the "Zeus" lace-up peep toe wedges ($79.99) and the blue asymmetrical ruffle dress ($58). It's all classic Simply Vera Vera Wang, smart pieces you can mix and match for work and the weekend.

nicole by Nicole Miller for JCPenney Spring 2011 Lookbook

Thanks to our friends at Nicole Miller, we have a first look at the nicole by Nicole Miller Spring 2011 collection, which has just begun to hit jcp.com and JCPenney stores. Prices range from $18.20 for leggings to $57.40 for a shawl collar leather jacket, with most tops, pants and dresses priced below $39.99. There are also several cool new shoe styles, including the 'Kendra' ankle-cuff open-toe heel in black or tan. The palette is mostly soft shades of pink, blue, purple and white with black accents that add contrast and sophistication. Nicole's trademark graphic prints and tunic tops make their usual appearance but the effect is fresh. This looks like the most wearable collection I've seen in a long time from this brand and I can't wait to see it up close and in person!

How to Wear the Cape Trend
There's something super glamorous about the shape and silhouette of a winter cape. To keep your look chic, not costumey, stick with a neutral color palette like a crisp white blouse and black skinnies, which will balance out the volume of the cape. Add feminine flats, oversized sunnies and a cool bag to complete your sartorial superhero ensemble. —BB
