Off the Rack: The Perfect Rose Gold Watch at Target

During my last trip to Target, I noticed a series of small boyfriend watches from the Merona line in rose gold (my favorite - couldn't find it online at this time, so check your local store), yellow gold, and gunmetal, priced at just $14.99 each. These look amazing for the price and they're a great way to get that "Michael Kors ceramic watch" look for less. If you love your cheap-chic timepiece and find yourself wearing it every day, then splurging on the real MK might be a good investment down the road. I also spotted a series of faux multi-function watches in black (shown below) as well as white and silver (not shown but you can find them online). A sharp looking watch can become part of your signature look; I still love my Target Merona boyfriend watch and wear it all the time.

Off the Rack: Dana Kellin for Target

Another limited-edition collection currently at Target is the Dana Kellin jewelry line, which I was able to check out in person earlier this week. As you can see from my photos (sorry for the blurry ones, my camera's been acting up), the jewelry looks très chic in real life. There's a nice assortment of earrings and necklaces priced from $9.99 to $49.99, available now through December 29. Many of you loved the lookbook, so what do you think of the line now that it's in stores? Have you made any purchases?

Ask BB: How to Wear Desert Boots

I bought the Target "Khadeja" desert boots (below) after thinking about them for weeks. But now I don't know what to wear with them. If I wear socks, are they supposed to show? And then how long should the pants be that I wear with them? I'm wondering if I am cool enough to pull these off! —Julianne

This is a great question, as there are a lot of similar lace-up boots in stores right now and styling them can be a bit challenging. I think the trick to pulling them off (and I definitely think you can!) is to make sure the styling looks intentional. If your socks show, make sure they coordinate with the rest of your look.

Here are 6 ways to wear your desert boots for reference:

1. With tights: Wear your desert boots or other low profile lace-up booties with tights and an above-the-knee skirt or dress. Sweater tights in dark colors seem to work best.
2. With socks: Pick a chunky sock in a wool or cashmere blend and kinda scrunch them down a bit. Experiment to find the sock that works for your legs.
3. With skinny jeans: You can completely cover the top of the shoe with a skinny jean or legging. Pick a dark sock in a hue that matches the color of your jeans so that if they show when you sit, they won't visually break up that line.
4. With a tightly rolled cuff: Here we see the jeans have been rolled up just a bit so as not to cover the top of the boot, but there's still really no sock line visible.
5. With a loosely cuffed pant: Here we have a rolled cuff on a chino or khaki pant, which is wider than the ankle, and the ankles are bare. No socks needed.
6. With a flare-leg or boot cut jean: The simplest option is to just cover much of your shoe with a flare or boot cut jean. Totally legit, although you won't get to show off your cool shoes quite as much.

Which look is your favorite? How do you wear desert boots or other lace-up ankle boots?

Dress by Number: Streetstyle in Granada, Spain

One of my favorite parts about traveling is looking at how people dress. During my recent trip to Spain, I have to say that for the most part, stylish women in Spain dress a lot like stylish women here in the US. I saw a lot of skinny jeans, chunky knits, tall boots, tunics with leggings and ballet flats, and staples like trench coats, scarves and crossbody bags. I also saw a lot of layering and earthy color palettes, like in the casual-yet-pulled-together look above. The blue-gray color of the jacket is a cool departure from the usual black, and the subtle snakeskin print is fun for fall. Is this something you'd wear?

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips Holiday Collection

Sally Hansen has introduced 5 new limited-edition holiday prints of their superpopular Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips (read our review). The new prints include Plaid About You (red and black plaid), Peppermint Twist (red and white candy stripe), Snow Bunny (white with red snowflakes), Prep's Cool (black and silver argyle), and Winter Funderland (black, silver and blue glitter). The strips are made of real nail polish but there's no mess or drying time - you just peel, apply, file and go. In my experience, the strips last about a week and most colors are easy to remove with regular nail polish remover (just the glitter ones are tough). I love them all but if I had to pick just one, I'd get the plaid. How about you?
