NYFW Diaries: The Empire Hotel

When Fashion Week rolls around, I usually just bite the bullet and commute daily from my home in Connecticut to NYC. That means waking up at the crack of dawn to get to the train station, riding the crowded Metro North for nearly 2 hours (each way), then taking the subway to Lincoln Center - and doing it all over again, day after day. It's exhausting to say the least. So this season, since I'm pregnant, I decided to invest in a hotel room at The Empire Hotel - and I am so glad I did. Not only was it convenient, it made covering Fashion Week possible because when a huge storm struck the northeast and the Metro North stopped running, I was safe and warm in my Deluxe King Suite. Take that, Nemo!

I'm a little reluctant to write this post because I don't really want the word to get out but The Empire Hotel is the ultimate place to stay during New York Fashion Week. It's literally steps from Lincoln Center, which is where the majority of shows take place; it's gorgeous, it's cool, and the service is friendly and helpful. It's also a hub of fashion week activity, like The HP x Style Coalition Lounge. And there's a Starbucks and Duane Reade just around the corner. What more could you ask for?! Oh, and it's the hotel from Gossip Girl fame, which adds another layer of fun.

What I'm trying to say is, if you ever come to NYC for Fashion Week, please don't stay at The Empire - I want it all to myself. Special thanks to The Empire Hotel for making my stay so special.

Target Spring 2013 Lookbook

Here's the Target Spring 2013 lookbook for women, featuring classic silhouettes updated with bright prints, pops of color and subtle details. In seasons past, Target released separate lookbooks for in-house brands like Merona, Mossimo and Xhilaration but this time around they've mixed and matched pieces, as shoppers might in real life, and the result is outstanding. I see lots of looks I want to copy head to toe, like the polka-dot skirt & pink bag ensemble, or the ripped jeans, tee and striped jacket pairing, or even the floral print top and bottom with yellow blazer. So much to look forward to this spring!

Items shown will be coming out now through April (let me know if you have questions about specific items) at Target stores and online at Target.com. What can you see yourself wearing?

NYFW Diaries: HP x Project Runway Party

HP and Style Coalition hosted a fabulous Project Runway party during New York Fashion Week that was crawling with alumni from the popular reality show! I've been a fan of the show for years so it was really exciting for me to see so many of the designers in real life. (Mondo! Casanova! Emilio!) The evening kicked off with a champagne toast to the Project Runway alumni and a panel discussion on fashion and technology. Then guests got to mingle, enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres while experiencing the latest HP technology.

As an HP blogger ambassador, I've been test driving the HP ENVY x2, a powerful tool that's a laptop and tablet in one. It features a sleek aluminum finish and innovative hinge with magnets that smoothly guide the tablet portion in place. There's also an HD webcam on the front and an 8.0 megapixel camera on the back. I think everyone's favorite part of the party was an HP "photo booth" outfitted with silly "fashion" props where you could pose with friends, then instantly share the photos or print them out. I had way too much fun with this (see photo above).

Thanks to HP and Style Coalition for the experience!
