You're totally right, all we have to make our assessments online are the photos, which provide a lot of clues but can be deceptive. I think it's fascinating to see how big a role photography plays in our perception of the goods we buy. And sometimes things look better in person, sometimes they look (much) worse!

i actually saw the charlotte russe one on the stores site so i rushed on over to my nearest charlotte russe to buy it and when i saw it in person, i was disappointed. it looks really cheap and when i tried it on it was too big for me so i didnt buy it. im still looking for a ribbon chain bracelet though!

I love these! I actually have one I bought last winter to wear with a dress I got for my sister-in-law's wedding...it was from Charlotte Russe but looked like #2, only with a black ribbon and a little dangling filigree charm attached to the clasp. I guess I should wear it more often! I do love it.
