Jean Paul Gaultier for Target Lookbook

Jean Paul Gaultier for Target Lookbook

Thanks to reader fashion court, I was able to get my first look at the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target Designer Collaboration lookbook courtesy of Refinery29. While the disjointed, outdated styling is a turn-off, when you start to look at the individual pieces, there is a lot of potential. (This scan from the pages of Elle magazine makes it look much more promising.) Highlights for me include a beige trench ($59.99), brown leather bomber (worn by an absolutely stunning model, btw. Look at those thighs!), and a yellow Marilyn Monroesque sundress. Prices range from $17.99 for swimsuit separates to $199 (ouch) for leather jackets. Mark your calendar for March 7th when Jean Paul Gaultier for Tarjay hits. Keep reading for all the looks!

Love that trench!! And regarding the all-black outfit in which the model has a red fedora...are those separates or is it a coatdress?

Wow, I must say I am impressed. I've been very critical of these lines lately. That trench and black dress however are not bad.

I am very afraid to get my hopes up! I fear this will be another much-hyped, much-disappointing collabo. I almost wish they would stop doing these haha.

Target is on a roll, they are pulling all the major designers. I like the trench, the red and white checked 50s blouse, the graphic eye shirt, and the yellow dress. I might actually make a "move" on this collection. Thanks for the pics!

That yellow dress is calling to me!I also like the trench and the last outfit. Actually, this might be the first "Blank for target" where I will be at the store early for. I'm excited. :]

The tattoo print thing isn't doing anything for me--it's been done quite a bit the past several years--but I'm liking a lot of what I see. Gaultier has been one of my favorite gee-if-I-only-had-the-money-and-the-occasion designers since he was making cone bras for Madonna. I definitely see myself buying quite a bit from this line.

I agree about liking the individual pieces, but I'm not liking the prices...199.00 at Target?..

Definitely some interesting pieces to check out. Can't wait to see how it translate into looking at it up close. I'm not digging those leggings though.

I never liked JPG..and I def dont like any of these. The Last outfit looks like a halloween costume. And whats with the weird ed hardy looking leggings? Like I always say, I def prefer what mossimo puts out over their design collabs.

I like Gaultier - inimitable feminine style which is really comfortable in addition:)

BAHHHH. Oh my. This isn't doing it for me, the scan looks fabulous, but its almost as if the scan is composed of an entirely different collection because the colouring is so different. I was really hoping for some mildly outlandish corset tops! Hmmm, because I love JPG, I won't firmly make a decision right now.

Okay, some of the pieces are dated, and the tattoo print pieces are for budding(read teen) fashionistas to try out. I've been a fan of JPG since the beginning, and there are some pieces there that can be worn by women of many ages (hooray for that!). That yellow sundress is to DIE for (minus the tattoo top), and after seeing Veronica Webb rock it in March's MORE magazine, It will be *MINE*! The black strapless dress, the tiny black skirt(cutest beach coverup!), the green print dress and the trench over it are wonderful staple pieces. As for a leather jacket for $199, that's a great price, even at Target. Stop looking at prices and figure cost per wear(20 times, and the jacket's $10 per wear, and that jacket's cut and color is classic enough to rock this spring and fall!). I'm marking March 7 on the calendar and logging onto Target's site ASAP.

HELP!! Do you know where I can find the camel leather jacket still? Mine was stolen at a bar last night and I'm devastated! It was my most favorite jacket! :*(
