Off the Rack: Liberty of London for Target

Liberty of London for Target

On Sunday I braved rain showers in my Hunter wellies to check out the Liberty Of London for Target collection, as I'm sure many of you did, too! At first I was disheartened because my store didn't have any of the home stuff, but when I tried on the clothes, I fell in love. This was the first time I've ever seen other women of all ages actually checking out the collab display, trying stuff on, buying stuff and commenting aloud "This is cute!" The patterns are bold but just try it on! You might be pleasantly surprised as your mood instantly lifts at the sight of all the bright colors. Keep reading to see what I bought, and let me know what you bought in the comments!

I bought this dress. Loved the print and the fit, even if I have to wear a strapless bra. Totally worth it!

I bought this top, looked funky on the rack but I loved the way it fit once I tried it on!

I bought the brocade-y pink and purple floral dress -- the one with the jewel neck. $35 is a bit more than I planned to spend, but it's a perfect go-to Spring dress... very ladylike. Oh, and I got the peacock feather piggy bank... I love it!

I gotta say I was disappointed at how many of the items were 100% polyester. I know that made the prices cheaper, but I just don't think quality items are made of polyester.

I agree with Jane! Everything was cheap, 100% polyester! That seemed crazy to me, especially since Liberty is famous for FABRICS...

Then everything would be $60-$200 and no one would buy anything.

At least polyester is easy to wash.

Let me see I got the black babydoll dress, the blue print dress with the ruffle down the front, the 2 halter neck tops, a nightgown, the 2 teal green pillows and the wavy blue floral quilt. I think I'm done. :-)
#3 Tracie on 2010-03-16 12:54 (Reply)
You look too cute in the halter dress! I loved the sheaths and bought them in both prints.

I purchased one of the men's button up shirts and shrunk it down to fit me! looks great with a belt and skinny jeans. i also purchased the 3 ruffled top pictured above, the peacock halter, and the peacock lamp shade and lamp base. i must say i am incredibly impressed with the clothing line and, had i not gone crazy with the orla kiely home like, i would have with this one as well!

BB, everything looks amazing on you! the one shoulder dress looks perfect on you - seriously! i can't wait until i get my orders.

i'm curious though - did you check out the kids section? i was reading that it runs HUGE and i sometimes fit in kids so i placed a small order with kids cardigan/kids dress yesterday. i'm thinking the kids maxi will fit me better because i'm a hairline under 5'2.
#6 fashion court (Homepage) on 2010-03-16 13:27 (Reply)
I got one of the kids maxi dresses in an xlarge and it fit me perfectly since I'm around 5'1. I'm going to take the straps and cross them in the back and sew them down.
#6.1 Tracie on 2010-03-18 12:23 (Reply)
Love it!

Yeah I got the blue and red print dress in an x large and sewed the straps in the back to cross over to keep it up. Very cute.

Target always has the best stuff at amazing prices. I'm gonna go check out the dress you got! it's so cute and great for summer!

Cute haul! I got the black babydoll dress with the white floral pattern on the bottom, plus the kids' maxi dress in the purple/pink floral pattern- the length is perfect on me (I'm 5'1") I also got a TON of the stationary/candles, and ordered bags online since I couldn't find them in the stores- SO cute!

Love that dress! I need to check that out, maybe a clutch?

I haven't bought anything yet - I don't live near a Target, so I have to order online. For those of you who have seen the clothes in person, do you think I could get away with wearing the tops to work (with nice pants)? I especially like this top and was thinking about buying it if it could work in a business casual environment. http://www.target.com/Liberty-London-Target-Waist-Ruffle/dp/B002WTO3LE/ref=br_1_2?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=2240106011&node=2240106011&sr=1-2&searchRank=pmrank&searchPage=1&sessionID=187-6480309-4289768&searchSize=30&qid=

yes! i think you could absolutely "get away with" wearing these tops to work. Some of them you might need a cami underneath so you're not exposing your bra or too much cleavage, but with a cami all of them would be work appropriate! hope this helps.

omg!! Super cute! I think I am in love.

I must have that jacket. I am skeptical about my local Target, but I can hope!

Great Post! I love the gold necklace you are wearing in the pictures. Who makes it?
Thanks

I love this line. I went on Sunday and bought the yellow sheath dress and the matching jacket. Too cute! Today, I went and bought some binders and a Small flowered Men's button up! (Thanks Christine for the great idea!) - Loving what you got :-)!

I went a little crazy. Got both "Audrey" style dresses above and the flutter sleeve top.
Because I wasn't sure what would be in stock in my store, I ordered online before I left home so some returning will happen.
Also picked up a fun scarf and flip flops.
I was really bummed none of the home goods were in store and all sold out online.
These dresses are sassy and perfect for summer weddings. Yea for $35!!!

I was sad when I got to Target and they had sold out of pillows and lampshades - the two things I wanted! They didn't have many of the clothes you tried on either and the accessories were already gone! (This was 2PM on Sunday). I did love the halters. Ended up with 2 pairs of men's boxers, a pillow, a hat box and a lidded box. Great collection. The clothes look great on you!

I thought the dress cuts were some of the most flattering ever of their collabs. Sure it was polyester, but what did you expect, really? All their collabs are usually.

I snagged a few umbrellas and am debating if I'll keep or sell them on ebay.

My Target was already out of most dresses. I checked out the girl's clothes and those were all cotton and looked really cute. Most sizes and styles were already sold out and I couldn't find the men's shirts at all.

I think people did a lot of shopping during the rainy weekend we just had!
#18 diane on 2010-03-17 16:31 (Reply)
My Target was sold out of the clothing but I bought the journals for $6.99. :-)

ok how did I not see that GORGEOUS coat when I was in the store.

BB that first dress looks fantastic on you! I got it in the sixty print and I absolutely adore it! I bought the one shoulder maxi dress too, its stunning! I can't wait to wear it. While I know that Liberty of London is known for its cotton fabric, the prints are fantastic and I don't think the polyester is half bad. Would I have preferred cotton ABSOLUTEY, but I love the line none the less! The kids clothing is adorable! And its sized large so you can probably get away with purchasing some of the items if you under 5'7" and its COTTON! I did the most damage in the home department though! THE PILLOWS ARE FABULOUS! I loved this collection!

I bought 4 dresses from this line. You actually tried on two of them! They are beautiful and flowy. They feel very springy and immediately made me long for sunny days. I'm so excited about the line. I guarantee that I will go back and purchase more.

My BIG purchase was the bicycle!! I love it and am thrilled that I was able to get it locally rather than having to purchase online. Not only did I save on shipping, but they put it together for me for free!! In addition to this, I purchased the matching tote, 2 of the men's shirts, and one scarf. I loved the shift dresses and the matching yellow jacket, but did not care for the fit on me. I thought the quality on these pieces was excellent for the pricepoint.

I got the black babydoll dress with the embroidered white flowers. I'm very busty and didn't think it would look good on me, but was really floored when it did! :-) I really wish it came in different colors. I wore it again when I got home -- husband loved it and I didn't want to take it off, it's so comfortable.

I didn't get any of the other clothes because of the polyester, which always makes me break out with prickly heat, but I thought they looked very nice and would have gotten more pieces if I could. The patterns are gorgeous!

P.S., the pink/red sheath dress looks amazing on you! I'd have bought that in a heartbeat but the neckline's too high for me (bustiness, yet again ... sigh).

I'm seriously considering getting one of the men's shirts -- beautiful patterns but, alas, can't convince The Hubz to get one due to "floweri-ness".
