Zac Posen for Target: What Did You Buy?

Zac Posen for Target: What Did You Buy?

The Zac Posen for Target collection went on sale late last night, and by this morning, a few of the items were already sold out! I try not to get caught up in the shopping frenzy, but honestly, who am I kidding?! Target knows how to get a girl excited and I am powerless to resist. So what did I buy? Well, this morning I didn't actually get anything because the item I wanted most—namely, the tuxedo blazer—was not yet available online. But when I returned to my computer this evening, the tuxedo blazer was up—YAY!—so I bought that for $49.99, as well as the black ruched skirt ($34.99), and the tie-dye tank dress ($29.99). Not what I'd consider the "standout" pieces by any stretch, but I went for items that I felt I would actually wear —pieces that would work with my figure, my style and my budget. I hope they fit, and if not, I can always return them! So. What did YOU buy?

I bought the Safety-Pin Print Short-Sleeve Top - Multicolor online but it will not ship until the middle of May. My local Target store had a few items but none that I wanted.

The Print Sailor Dress, I almost bought the convertable dress and gown...It was close. I saw the ruched skirt, it was cute in person and I liked the tank dress but didn't love it.

I bought the tie-dye tank dress as well. It looks much better in person! It feels inspired by Proenza Schouler's spring 2010 collection.

I tried the snap-tape dress but ultimately didn't buy it. It's well made (much better than some of Target's previous designer collections) and has a flattering fit. I just couldn't picture myself actually wearing it anywhere.

The brocade dress was pretty awful. Again, well made, but it made me look like a big cupcake!

I got the snap tape dress and the safety pin short sleeve shirt. I initially just got the shirt this morning, but around 5 pm I was still dying for the dress and raced back to the store. My size was the only one left. Few! The dress fits great, and is short but strikes the right balance. I wanted the black cardigan, and the pleated black skirt was really cute.

I didn't like any of the collection. Wasn't my style and compared to the LoL collection it was way overpriced.

They finally got the chambray drawstring dress in and I decided to try that. I had to get a large but overall the most wearable of the entire collection.

NOTHING!! I am boycotting Target after their flub with Cynthia Vincent last weekend!! So Cal stores received NO wedges.

I thought it was much better than the Jeal-Paul Gaulthier collection. I bought the tuxedo body suit, very cute! I also wanted the red moto jacket, but the price at 199.99, not so much.

I didn't like any of the dresses or the swimsuits. The cardigans were bleh, I liked Rodarte's cardigans better.

Wasn't all too impressed, but much better than I've expected

love the snap tape dress- when, oh when will target restock online? i do not want to go hunting at every target in my area like i did for cynthia vincent, which i ended up buying online anyway!

I am also hoping they restock online soon. I really want the polka dot dress. Though I did pick up the zebra sailor dress, the snap tape dress, denim drawstring, and the black dress with the flare at the bottom. This was by far my favorite collaboration!

Just picked up the zebra print tank today. Nothing else really caught my eye. And my local store didn't have it, but I might have to order the tuxedo jacket. You'll have to tell us how it fits.

I bought the chambray dress on a whim and I love it!

Hey everyone,

I am REALLY hoping to get my hands on one of the brocade dresses. So, if anyone spots a size 3 or 5 in it, and wants to swap for a size 7 Cynthia Vincent cognac gladiator wedges I have in my possession right now, let me know.

My overall reaction to the Zac Posen collection was "meh". Nothing much to get excited about, and it certainly didn't come close to the "luxe for less" line Zac created for Target Australia a few years ago.

I bought nothing. I went out yesterday morning and tried on a bunch of stuff (you can read the review on my blog) and wasn't interested in anything.

I visited this collection at the 24 hour even in NYC so I had a good idea of what to expect. I must say, i was underwhelmed. Cute but not so sophisticated as I come to expect from Zac Posen.

To that end, I did purchase (only one piece) the tuxedo jacket. It runs a tiny bit small. The quality is actually pretty decent but I think I will be returning after all. I am amply endowed in the bust with a small bottom. I htink tuxedo jackets with just one button under the bust is most flattering as it makes the waist appear more tucked in as well.

The ZP tuxedo jacket has 3 buttons that begin under the bust. The jacket looks awkward when closed if all 3 buttons aren't done. I didnt think that the closed jacket was as flattering as it could be.

What other designers are doing collaborations with Target this year? When are each coming out?
#16 Amy on 2010-04-26 16:47 (Reply)
I purchased the tuxedo jacket and was very happy with how it looked. I have small boobs and do not plan on wearing it buttoned.

I was eyeing up the tie-dye dress, but it looked like more of a tunic on me! For tall gals, leggings or jeans will be a must!

I was eyeing up the safety pin top, but here we go again with all of the polyester! Remember Target, breathable fabrics!

I bought a bunch of stuff...the polka dot dress, the pink and blue belt, the zebra print dress, the red ruffle dress, the brocade dress, the black/red lipstick t shirt and tie dye zac shirt. I really thought everything ran a bit small in the bust. I had to buy a size or two up and normally I wear a 6-7. Not sure if I am going to keep the brocade dress. I really loved the red motorcycle jacket. I didn't see the body suit and loved the tape dress but it sold out in my size.

Stephanie, if you decide to pass on the brocade dress, if not already, I am interested! ... and yea, I am 1.5 years late on this comment.

I bought the tie die dress too! I wore it as a tunic over some leggings today :-) I also got the Zac Lipstick tank.

Love hearing what everyone thought of the collection! Glad I sized up on everything I bought, sounds like it ran small.

Valerie: I'm planning on wearing mine with leggings too, it will probably be a mini on me!

I bought the tie dye dress..love the back of it! I got the zac lipstick tank top as well but I may return it. The women at my Target were going nuts...i went at 8am and everything was almost gone. Got my Cynthia wedges last week so i am one happy chica!

Honestly, I have zero interest in this line. I know it will sell out because people must get their hands on some type of designer item and its Zac Posen, but the fact remains that this stuff is overpriced and unimpressive. These people really aren't trying to give the masses something that is worth our money and I don't see how its any better than something I might get from Forever 21.

i bought these items, but haven't decide which ones to keep yet :-) http://eight-threeone.blogspot.com/2010/04/zac-posen-for-target.html

I dropped by my local Target last night after work and bought the ruched skirt too! It looks like absolute garbage on the hanger (just like all the reviews on the Target website), but looks UH-mazing on. I'm petite at 5'2'' and 100 lbs, but snatched the VERY LAST XS!!! Omigosh, it was so meant to be! Haha! :-D (I have no patience to ordering online. Plus I hate paying shipping, and these items don't qualify for the free shipping offer.)

I bought the tuxedo style blazer with matching pants. Love it(although i have to have the pants altered a little) I also bought the shorts, the snap tape dress, the black belt, and the tank dress.

At first look, Zac Posen’s collection for Target is yet another disappointment of cheap polyester and ugly color combinations, but dig through the racks and you just might find a few stylish frocks to add to your wardrobe.
