Poll: Would You Wear Flatforms?

A hybrid of platforms and flats, flatforms have been dubbed the must-have shoe for Spring 2011 after making appearances on both the Prada (left) and Fendi runways. I'm willing to give flatforms a try. Paired with shorts and summer dress, the right flatform would give you height without sacrificing comfort. What do you think?

I agree with you! It's all about styling. Like you said, the right flatform with a sun dress or a pair of soft shorts could be really cute. I actually like the brown, blue, and teal sandal flatform you have pictured here. Those could be really cute! I don't think I'd ever do the flatform oxford but a sandal is definitely doable.

So true, it really depends. The sandal ones are cute--I'd wear those-- but the oxford ones are a bit fug. Somebody with a unique style could probably pull them off, but I'm going to pass.

I wore shoes like these when the Spice Girls were all the rage and Baby Spice wore the sneaker platforms. That time is so long gone for me.

Me too! The flatforms remind me of the Steve Madden platform slides that every woman seemed to have in the late '90s/early '00s. Blech.

they were so huge in the 90's ...and I totally wore them even though they had a Frankenstein effect . Actually, my favorites were the platform/flatform tennis shoes - converse style . . .they made my legs look longer :-) {I JUST saw a photo yesterday of me wearing them at Disneyland that cracked me up ...thus, it's fresh in my mind}

In other news: I do really like Sara's comment though #3

I got a pair of Kork Ease at Urban Outfitters that are pretty similar - not so high and toned down a bit. I love them for wearing my long flared jeans into spring and summer, and they are super cute with dresses and shorts. SO COMFY too, which is huge for me because I have the worst feet ever. I was hesitant at first, especially because I hate platform flipflops, but I love them!

I'm tall enough that I don't need platforms -- I only wears heels for their leg-lengthening effect, and I don't think I'd get that with "flatforms".

I guess I'm the minority here, but all I could think when I saw the pics was, "Helloooo, Herman Munster" and I thought the same thing about the Spice Girls in the 90's. It doesn't matter if they're striped or bedazzled to death...

And I totally agree with Sara on the "season must haves." I guess I'm just not quite THAT fashion forward. ;-P

I wore them the first time (as a junior high student), my understanding of throwback trends is if you did it last time you shouldn't do it this time.
And, yeah, _everything_ is a spring must have this year and it's gotten to be overwhelming.
The teal sandals could maybe be cute on someone with the right styling, but they're just too trendy for me and I'll stick with my espadrilles and gladiators.

I love how hideous they are! I just got a pretty cheap pair and like to tromp around, like I'm Short Round and I had to tie boxes to my feet to reach the pedals. But we all know I'm off ;-)

I've been wearing this style of shoes for years now. But the platform is much lower, so the effect is not exxagerated/clownish. They're perfect for me because I can't wear heels, and they're very comfortable but cute too ... if the look is just right and not OTT! Camper makes some beautiful versions.

is perfect as you can mix and match your colors as you like with your clothes.
