Luxe Vs. Less: Phillip Lim Lace Dress

The original ain't that great to begin with, so why Forever 21 would knock-off Phillip Lim's granny-chic (if you can call it that) lattice neckline dress is beyond me. I'm sorry, but where I come from, this dress would cost a quarter at the church rummage sale. And another thing: Lim probably knocked this look from one of the ladies running Bingo night (no offense to plebeian fashion—or Lim—just pointing out that designers have been pilfering ideas from us "nobodies" for years.)

The belt on that Philip Lim dress ruins the entire thing and it really had so much promise maybe Lim thinks grandmothers miss the good ole days of waist-cinching. And the Forever 21 top just screams "I'm ITCHY!" at me.

I really like the expensive one on the left...just b/c anything lacy that is worn out in public reminds me of lingerie no matter how covered up it is. However, the one on the left almost looks like if it is crotchet and even I would wear this out but the forever21 does scream out "Im ITCHY" as Samantha said :-)

I love the geometric in the purse and sequined top. The rest reminds me of 1950's housedress prints Grandma might wear.
Great job Budget Babe

I love Phillip Lim, especially his belts, but this one is a miss on all counts. Same goes for the Forever 21 one. Both look kinda ancient church organist meets funeral parlor (which I guess might be the same person). Ugh!
