One of the top colors that designers will have you craving this fall is oxblood. But don't let the name throw you - it's just the latest spin on burgundy, a rich Merlot red that's bold yet classic and easy to wear. Miranda Kerr totes the trend with a Louis Vuitton bag, Claire Danes embraces the hue from head to toe in Lanvin Pre-Fall 2012, while Sophia Bush adds just a touch of color with her dark red pout. Here are some pieces I've rounded up under $100 to get you inspired to add a little oxblood red into your wardrobe this season:
1. Faux leather pencil skirt ($69, TheLimited.com)
Leather doesn't always have to look edgy as this burgundy leatherette skirt proves. You could wear it casually with a chambray top and loafers or done up for the office with a ladylike blouse and ankle boots.
2. Topshop lipstick in 'Beguiled' ($15, topshop.com)
Topshop sent me this shade as a sample to test and review for fall and it's gorgeous! I've been wearing it around the house to acclimate myself to such a bold hue. The formula is smooth and creamy and doesn't dry out my lips or bleed.
3. Mossimo jeans in burgundy ($22.99, target.com)
Fall is all about colored pants, whether its denim, chinos, cords or crops. This shade of red feels grown-up and will be easy to mix and match. Try them with a striped sweater and ballet flats, or blazer and boots.
4. Sonia Kashuk for Target nail polish in 'All Vamped' ($8, target.com)
I've got this color on my nails right now c/o Sonia Kashuk and I pretty much feel set for fall. This luxurious shade of wine looks almost-black under certain light, giving it a fashion-forward feel.
5. Ann Taylor duffle in oxblood ($248, anntaylor.com)
Worth the splurge, Ann Taylor's oxblood satchel will pull your fall wardrobe together and add polish to any look.
6. Merona 'Maye' burgundy pumps ($29.99, target.com)
I saw these pumps in person and they look much better in real life, the color is richer and the shape is flirty yet work-appropriate. It's the perfect pop of color for the office and cocktail hour.
