Target Launches $99 Wedding Gowns and $69 Bridesmaid Dresses

Target's affordable wedding gown collection

Target is back in the wedding game, having just launched an in-house collection of 4 wedding gowns, 10 bridesmaid dresses, two flower girl frocks and two ring bearer ensembles, ranging in price from $29.99 to $129.99 exclusively on Target.com. Note that I said "back in the game" because some of you may recall Target's first foray into bridalwear was in 2007 when they teamed with Isaac Mizrahi on a cheap-chic bridal gown collection (here).

The new Target wedding gown collection is called Tevolio (loosely translated from the Italian phrase for "I love you") and features classic, simple styles in ivory or white, like a satin cowlneck gown ($99.99) or a v-neck ruched gown ($129.99)

Target's affordable bridesmaid dress collection

For bridesmaids, highlights include a strapless chiffon maxi ($69.99) or flirty short chiffon dress with a flattering sweetheart neckline, both available in ten on-trend colors in sizes 2 - 28W.

I think the bridesmaid dresses are especially tempting because of the range of styles, sizes and colors. The only downside is that Target's bridal collection is only available online at Target.com, but shoppers can return anything that doesn't fit as long as they adhere to the retailer's return policy.

What do you think of this collection? Would you wear a $99 gown on your big day?

While I am skeptical about buying clothes online when I never had experience in store first, I might give this a try. I am concerned about the dresses fitting on everyone very well because my bridesmaid group will be different heights and sizes, but on the other hand, they are $20 less than the majority of short bridesmaid dresses from David's Bridal and I think they would rather pay $20 more knowing it will actually fit.

They only have to look nice for one event, why pay hundreds of dollars? I had street-length dresses at my wedding that I purchased off the sale rack. Picking an inexpensive dress helped the bridesmaids out and who can tell in the photos anyway?

Been happily married for seven years now, but we couldn't afford a wedding and all of my family is almost two-hundred miles away. We opted to go to the courthouse. While I do not regret it, I kind of feel like I cheated us out of our big day.

Well now that I'm older and wiser (ha!) I hope to have a budget-friendly vow renewal. My heart is set on Mod Cloth. Super cute dresses and the prices aren't bad. I'm also one for non-tradition and Mod is right up my alley. I love Target but those dresses are mediocre.

Glad they're doing this again! Not sure I'd do a Target gown for my big day, but the bridesmaid dresses are pretty great-- could be worn as a bridesmaid or just a wedding guest!
