I wake up at least two or three times per night to nurse my 3-month-old son. Pros: I was up at 3:00 am when the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target collection started to appear on target.com. Cons: I was up at 3:00 am when the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target collection started to appear on target.com. After all was said and done, I had purchased 3 bags and 1 dress in two sizes. You'd think by morning I would be thinking clearer but no, I had a friend pick me up another bag in person when she went shopping at the stores in our area. (She got me the yellow Pashli lookalike. I owe her big-time.)
Target knows that insomnia coupled with a coveted designer collaboration and social media frenzy equals good business, and I for one was happy and willing to partake. I love the thrill of the wait and the satisfaction one gets when the item one lusts for is still available for purchase the moment you get it, then sold out the next. I especially love the camaraderie between like-minded shoppers as we share our victories and console one anther in defeat on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
I'm not sure if I'll keep all my purchases but for now, the mini satchel in both yellow and taupe are mine, as well as the large black tote with gusset and the medium cognac satchel. This may just be my favorite collab to date, or maybe it's just the sleep deprivation talking. Either way, I can not WAIT for my orders to arrive.
As I'm writing this post, all the accessories are sold out on target.com while much of the clothing remains available in a wide variety of sizes. I'm hoping to scoop up some pieces on clearance in stores in the coming weeks. A search for "3.1 Phillip Lim Target" on ebay.com produces 5,265 results.
Enough from me already - what did you buy?? Was it worth the wait? What was the scene like in stores?

I was less excited about the clothes in person. I thought the fabric choices on a lot of the pieces were strange. But I'll probably reconsider some items (like the silky navy skirt and floral tank) if/when they go on sale.

i was tempted to order the knit animal print dress. i love the shape of it, but i doubt i can pull off the print.
I didn't get to Target until after 11 and thought it would all be gone. I was able to get the gray purse. Can't decide if I love. The zipper goes so far down the sides, so I'm not sure I'd love that. It is pretty heavy even empty.
All that said, can't wait to see what people return and then I can really shop.
Surprisingly, I wondered over to my nearest target Sunday around 5:00 p.m. and the collection was still well stocked there. Many of the big ticket items were still around like the Boom sweatshirt, the mini satchels in taupe and black and the large satchels with gusset in black. I liked the taupe version of the mini satchel so much I went ahead and bought it. I'm thinking there is a good chance some of the items will make it until clearance at least at this Target in question.
Now they are saying sept 30th!!??? How is this possible I ordered first inn stock?
Anyway, I was on the fence about the bags and I wanted to see them in person. Of course when I finally got to Target at about 10 all of the bags were gone and they still had all of the clothing items I ordered (lol). And of course I'm curious about the bags now because they're such a huge fuss. Last night I noticed a store near my office had the black totes listed as "in stock" so I rushed over this morning. Can you believe they had 4 totes and I got my hands on the last one?! The checkout lady said they got a new shipment, so keep checking your stores if you really want a bag ladies! There were women who had come just for the totes like me. We were all seriously cracking up. One woman who looked at them and put them back swooped it up after she saw us grabbing them and asked us what the big fuss was. Once I told her she said oh, I guess I better get this then! Personally I like the totes and satchels better than the Pashali lookalikes. I think I'll get more use out of them since they're a little less recognizable. The tote is nice quality for a faux-leather bag.
