In this weekly column, I’m bringing you my favorite budget-friendly accessory that’s available online or in-stores. This week, we’re talking gold jewelry.
There are many tricks to buying inexpensive gold jewelry that looks pricier. One is going for more vintage-looking styles. Whenever I’m shopping at Forever 21, I immediately pass the shiny necklaces. Instead I focus on pieces that are either matte or have etched details.

That’s why I was immediately drawn to this cutout rose pendant ($6.80). It reminds me of something you might find at a flea market. And it has an heirloom feel to it, thanks to the carved out rose.
Long necklaces are also very on trend right now. You can wear them alone but I prefer to layer them with other necklaces. When layering necklaces, try playing with different shapes and colors. This week, I added a touch of wine to my look by combining my rose pendant with a gold necklace that has burgundy fringe. The duo looks great over sweaters and dresses. They’re especially perfect for this season’s popular turtleneck trend!
