Get One, Give One: 5 Holiday Gifts That Give Back

One for One Shopping: Holiday Gifts that Give Back

Yesterday on the morning news I caught a segment with the author of LoveThemMadly.com who shared 5 great gifts that give back - with each of these socially conscious gifts, when you buy one for yourself, another similar item (or cash) is donated to someone in need. It's a beautiful gesture for a holiday that's grown overly commercial, even if it seems gimmicky at first. In honor of Giving Tuesday, I thought I'd share these 5 companies that make it easy to extend a little holiday cheer to those in need.
1. Wink Bags: When you buy a WINK bag - a stylish toiletry bag with luxury products from Soap & Paper Company inside - a similar bag is donated to Ronald McDonald House Family Rooms across the U.S. so family members staying with their critically ill children have one less thing to worry about. ($36)

2. You and Who: You and Who markets original design t-shirts and for every one sold, a matching shirt is donated to someone in need in the city of the artist who designed the shirt through local charity partners. ($1 per shirt sold to one artist)

3. Kutoa Bars: For every tasty KUTOA health bar purchased, KUTOA donates, through a partnership with the World Food Program, a nutrition pack to a child suffering from malnutrition. ($25.99 per dozen)

4. Smiles for the People: For every biodegradable bamboo toothbrush you buy, Smiles for the People gives the cash equivalent of one toothbrush to one of their partner dental charities. ($5 each)

5. Baby Teresa: For each 100% organic baby outfit sold, another one is donated to a child in need somewhere in the world through one of Baby Teresa’s many charity partners.

TOO ironic! i come across your blog every once and awhile, and what are the odds the day i check it out you featured KUTOA! ironic, because i manage "portion of proceeds/buy one give one" relationships here AT World Food Program USA, and KUTOA is one of my partners! Their mission is wonderful, and we appreciate partnerships like them and YOU for sharing their model!
