Pay It Forward With Kohl's, Plus A $100 Gift Card Giveaway!

Win a $100 Kohl's Gift Card!

Every year around the holidays I love picking out gifts for kids in need through my church, and for the past couple seasons, Kohl's has generously provided me with gift cards to make it possible for me to give back even more. This year I picked up entire outfits plus stocking stuffers for two teens, and it was so great knowing these were the exact things these children needed and wanted.

In the spirit of Paying It Forward, I'm giving one lucky BB reader a chance to win a $100 Kohl's gift card!

This year the kids and I tried to spend the entire month of December paying it forward -- they had so much fun taking cookies to the fire department, making cards for wounded warriors, giving away a gift card at McDonalds! And they looked forward to every single one. My daughter's favorite was taping quarters to kids vending machines and my son's was taking balloons to his entire class at taekwondo one day. And they really learned a lot from it! :-)

In lieu of presents this year, our whole family decided to sponsor a family for Christmas. We bought presents and food for a local family in need. I gotta say it felt pretty good to give back this year.

I spread some holiday cheer this year by making bags of goodies (non-perishable foods, personal hygiene necessities, bottled water) and passing them out to homeless people I encountered driving around my big city. Most people were very grateful and it warmed my heart to help in some way.

I try to pay forward all year by volunteering at shelters. During December though, when shopping, I always buy an extra toy whereever I am and donate to toys for tots. I also round up my purchase price at stores and give the extra money to charity. A lot of stores are doing this.

My daughter, whose 12, also pays it forward by donating her allowance from December to a children's home.

My husband and I do all our Christmas shopping at Kohl's each year. We earn lots of Kohl's cash in the process. This year, we "adopted" a family for Christmas from a local "at risk" school. We used all our Kohl's cash (over$350) to purchase stylish clothes and popular toys straight off their wish lists. Thanks to Kohl's, we have a new family tradition and a way to make someone else's holidays bright too.

My favorite experience with spreading holiday cheer was when my university organized an event where students would visit the homes of elderly people who were going to be lonely on christmas and bring them a gift and sing carols at their door. I had some the sweetest experiences doing this!
Now that I have graduated I enjoy spreading holiday cheer by making cookies and candy and handing them out at my churches christmas program.

We love to bake here, so spreading cheer always comes with food, cookies, cakes and pies! I love to support the local animal and people shelters year round.

I'm a Christmas queen! It would take endless space to tell everything, but one of the family traditions is to send a Heifer International gift to a family abroad. My daughter picked out a share of a llama this year!

This season I have spread cheer by donating to each organization/store that has presented itself to me. With all of the good fortune in my life, and the ability to spend money to buy gifts for my family I made sure that I was giving back as much as possible. I donated outfits to a family that we adopted at work, gave train money to one of my homeless patients (I'm a nurse), brought in canned goods for a senior can drive, and donated to each store that was collecting during my shopping trips.

This year I tried to spread Christmas cheer by singing Christmas songs with family and friends. And on a budget I tried to find little gifts that meant the most to my family and close friends. I also wanna say I love you budget babe for years I've been your fan and a great supporter!
