The End of an Era: Juicy Couture to be Sold Exclusively at...Kohl's?! (Here's the Fall 2014 Look Book)

Juicy Couture gets a re-brand and a new home exclusively at Kohl's / coming September 2014

Did I just blow your mind? It's hard to believe that Juicy Couture, the once glamorous LA-brand created by Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor in 1997, would find itself at a budget retailer in 2014. And yet, this story says so much about the state of the fashion industry today. Brands that start out as cool, original, and presumably unique design expressions get bought and sold and licensed until they're really only a glimmer of their former selves - except for behemoth sales figures.
Juicy Couture for Kohl's looks like a mash-up of styles from other Kohl's lines - think Princess Vera meets Rock & Republic (another once-cool brand that now calls Kohl's it's sole retail home). Make no mistake: These velour tracksuits and graphic tees are not the Juicy Couture you once knew (and maybe even were a fan of). But Kohl's is banking on plenty of consumers not really knowing or caring.

So let's have a look, shall we? Priced from $14-300, the fall collection includes items like bejeweled sweatshirts, edgy tanks, funky shoes and chunky chain jewelry for a casual-glam attitude. I wasn't really a Juicy girl back in the 90s and early aughts, and I'm certainly not a JC x Kohl's girl now. (But watch, I'll be at Kohl's next month when the line launches being all, there's some cute stuff here!)

How about you, are you excited to see Juicy Couture come to Kohl's? See any pieces you'll be buying?

Wow, interesting. Wonder if they'll get the perfume too, although you can easily find them at tjmaxx and Marshall's anyway. I remember when mossimo was high end, it was my first "expensive" swimsuit back in middle school...

Great point re: Mossimo, I'm sure young Target shoppers never knew Mossimo any other way. I like Mossimo because it's on-trend yet wearable, lots of neutrals and everyday basics. Can't say the same for Juicy.

I thought I was the only one who remembered when Mossimo bikinis were all the rage and not at all cheap! When I was in 10th grade (so, 1997-1998) I absolutely HAD to have one and was sooo excited when my aunt finally caved and bought me one on our spring break trip to the Outer Banks. I think it was around $75 for both pieces. (Which, looking back, was absolutely ridiculous, especially considering how little fabric it actually took to make it!) But it was this shiny black and I was absolutely in love with it! I also collected a few more pieces that matched it later that summer at a shop in one of the waterparks at Disney World, which were no doubt wayyyy overpriced but I didn't think about that stuff back then...my 15 year old self just had to have whatever was on trend! Then again, 21-25 year old me just absolutely HAD to have everything Juicy as well ...thankfully at 32 I've grown out of buying stuff for a designer name instead of what looks good on me!

I can't say I'm surprised! The track suit trend thankfully ran it's course. There are some cute pieces here though!

Ya, velour tracksuits aren't my thing so I probably won't be partaking though I do LOVE some of the jewelry and perfume which is a bit less...velour tracksuity?
haha..

BB, I Agree with you on this, and quoted you in my blog post on this. These are not very good looking. And the style is now passe. With so many other good looking budget collabs around, I'll be surprised if this sells like hotcakes , won't you?

I'd be surprised but then again, think how popular the Victoria Secret "Pink" line is - I'm not sure how it is on the West Coast but where I live, I see Pink emblazoned sweats all the time (passing as day clothes). But I think "Pink" is the new Juicy. I should ask my interns, they'd know more about this than I would lol.

I sold some juicy items to a used clothing store when I heard about this. I kept a couple of handbags (which are surprisingly cute and good quality) and some jewelry. I don't know if I'll keep wearing the jewelry, though. It kind of lost its special quality.

I was definitely a Juicy girl! I was more into the purses and jewelry, especially the charms! I still have all of my jewelry and continue to wear it because of how beautiful and detailed the charms are. I will definitely be checking out their new line at Kohl's and I'm hoping that have great markdowns on their line for this years Black Friday shopping!
