Today I did a little fall shopping at Forever 21 and wanted to share some easy casual outfit ideas based on items that I tried on in store. The formula is simple: Start with a white t-shirt (short or long sleeve), dark skinny jeans (blue, black or gray) and boots (ankle or tall), then add a layer, whether it's a cozy sweater, moto jacket or cardigan. Couldn't be easier! Accessorize with scarves, your favorite jewelry, even makeup. Here are some examples of my foolproof fall outfit and what I bought (find similar items at FOREVER21.COM):
First up is this oversized sweater in a beautiful Bordeaux color that reminded me of the one we featured in this post . It has a sort of open knit weave so we'll see how warm it is but it looks great for the price - just $19.80! I knew I wanted something in this color so I did not hesitate to buy it. It'll look great with jeans or a black skirt, statement necklace and heels. (Baby is entertaining himself by pulling the travel-size Kleenex out of my purse and tossing it around the dressing room.)
My second purchase is this dark olive green cardigan with roomy pockets and a shawl neckline. Again, I love the color on this sweater and it feels really soft and warm. It's like wearing a blanket - but more stylish!
Another piece I loved but didn't buy was this light brown moto jacket. I'm kinda regretting not buying it but it was $44.90 and I already own quite a few jackets. It's a great alternative to black but just as chic and versatile.
I was so in love with this sweater - it's so cozy yet dramatic because of the long, coat-like length. Unfortunately I left it behind because I imagined the long length would get in the way when I'm maneuvering around with a toddler. But you should get it!
I wanted to love this sweater because it looked well-made and I liked the print but the shape was awkward - it's really short in the front and then long in back. Not the most flattering silhouette on me.
Here's the shawl cardigan in Bordeaux - love! I was tempted to get this one in addition to the green but my practical side decided on one red, one green. For now.
This floral denim moto jacket feels more spring/summer to me than fall/winter but I had to share it anyways because it's one of those pieces that looks much more expensive than it actually is.
Random goodness: This bag!
Try the kimono trend for less.
