I always know that fall has made its enchanting debut when I am hit with that crisp, morning chill upon walking out my front door. As much as I love the sun and the warmth, I embrace this change in climate with this one comfort in mind (besides coffee)—it’s sweater time! But there is no excuse to bury yourselves beneath layers of your boyfriend’s sweatshirts when you have about as many sweater options out there as there are leaves on the ground! This fabulous list of BB-approved chic staples and new trends to try are all under $50.
1. Free People Cocoon Wrap Kimono $48
Oversized ponchos, capes, and kimonos are everywhere. We love the earthy green hue and subtle fringe along the edges for a very down-to-earth vibe.
2. American Eagle Shag Striped Sweater $40
Stripes are found year-round, but for some reason never seem to get old! The classic black and white stripe can be paired with anything from leggings to skirts to your denim of choice.
3. Missguided Kristyana Soft Knit Cropped Jumper $38
Cropped tops don’t have to be shoved in a drawer just because the weather gets cooler! Mock this model’s look by layering it over a chambray or collared shirt.
4. J. Crew Factory Varsity Stripe V-Neck Sweater $35
Student or not, the back-to-school look with varsity striped sweaters (and jackets) are ruling the streets with denim, knee-length skirts, and sneakers to complete a sporty/collegiate look.
5. BooHoo Charlotte Aztec Printed Cardigan $40
Aztec prints in a bright yellow will bring a vibrant and lively element to a cozy, go-to fall outfit with leggings, a basic top, and tall or short boots.
6. H&M Cowl Neck Sweater $25
I remember wearing turtlenecks when I was younger (hello 90s trend revival!) Now, you can’t go anywhere without seeing them! My favorite versions are oversized with chunky cowl necks.
7. Forever 21 Checkered Plaid Fuzzy Sweater $25
Nevermind that you are already plaid mad with button-downs, scarves, bags, and shoes…it’s such a timeless pattern that overkill just is not possible.
8. ZARA Mixed Knit Sweater $30
You can also own five or more cable knit sweaters like this one and not be judged. And the best part is they can vary in thickness, color, size, and the design of the cable for whatever suits you on any given day!
9. Threadsence Fall In Line Maxi Cardigan $42
Maxi dresses are fun a flirty, so why not a maxi cardigan? At first I thought they resemble a bathrobe, but these romantic and whimsical cardis have grown on me the more I see them on Pinterest!
