The Thakoon for Kohl's lookbook is here and it's getting me really excited for fall. I just bought a slouchy Topshop coat and floppy felt hat during the Nordstrom sale so I was already planning on channeling my inner London girl when, bam, Thakoon Panichgul delivers a very of-the-moment-without-trying-too-hard collection for Kohl's DesigNation inspired by said iconic city.
The press kit tells us the Fall 2015 collab aims to capture the city's regal character through a romantic color palette and a wink of English iconography. The collection is both chic and accessible, and showcases Panichgul's signature style including menswear shirting details, an unexpected pairing of prints, and pieces meant to be layered."
My favorite piece from the collection based on the lookbook photos is the plaid vest but OMG it's $120 - a lot for Kohl's, although I guarantee it'll be on sale before you can say Milly for Kohl's.
Subtle standouts include a black jumpsuit ($98) with a mock capelet ($48, ok so it might be impossible to move your arms in one of these but I'll wait until I try it on to pass judgement), a pocket scarf with zipper ($48), a Liberty-esque print shirt for $54, and a fit-and-flare dress ($74).
There's a floral mixed-media dress that looks like a dress I owned in the '90s made from that velour burnout material, in which case I won't be partaking but he's got the '90s throwback vibe down.
My concern is there aren't enough special pieces in this collection to really draw a crowd. It's sophisticated but super tame, and a far cry from the designer's 2008 budget fashion collaboration with Target.
Take a look and let me know what you think in the comments!
