Yesterday I took a quick trip into the city to see my good friend Sydne (sydnesummer.com) and after a leisurely brunch we did some shopping, of course! I always have to stop at Topshop on Broadway since we don't have a store in Connecticut. But trust me, you're not missing out. Sydne and I both agreed that we actually prefer the selection of Topshop merchandise that's now offered at Nordstrom stores. And you can always shop online! But a trip to the store is informative especially when it comes to fall 2015 trends. Your choices are basically sixties boho or '90s grunge (I didn't bother to photograph the latter because it's just so ubiquitous these days - plaid, destroyed denim, you get the picture).
These trends are best worn one or two pieces per outfit at a time so you don't look costume-y. Consider pairing a fringe skirt with a simple t-shirt or chunky sweater for fall, or a suede mini skirt with a sweatshirt. Mix old and new to keep your look current. Or experiment with color - rust orange and mustard yellow saturated the shelves. Menswear looks are always in with this London brand, especially this season. Personally I'm loving the structured coats - already bought three (here and here - during the Nordstrom anniversary sale!) so I didn't do any spending on this trip.
Take a look at my in-store photos and let me know what catches your eye!
Sydne and I both loved the look of this suedette dress but the see-through crochet detailing in the front was awkwardly placed.
The button-front denim skirt is back! Remember how Hailey Baldwin styled hers with a varsity jacket and black ankle booties?
Suede skirts like this one in aqua tap into fall's sixties and seventies trends.
These are a great knockoff for the Aquazurra Christy lace-up flats, $665 at barneys.com.
Call it a sleeveless jacket or longline trench, these were everywhere in the store. Can't wait to try the style after baby arrives (as you can see it's pretty odd looking on me in this photo but trust me, it's a sleek look!)
