Pineapple prints, colorful lace, gingham checks, madras plaid and more amazing summer fashions greeted me at my local Target store yesterday. I had one of those extremely rare, super-successful shopping trips with both kiddos (candy bribes may or may not have been involved) and was able to snap some pics and try on a few items, too!
Shown above: Pineapple tee (just $5!) and Mossimo Low-Rise Boyfriend Shorts 6" Inseam, wearing size 4/27 (fit is TTS). I think this is the pair online but can't quite tell for sure.
My main mission was to get some shorts for summer that aren't too short, and I found the perfect pair by Mossimo (I think this is the pair but not 100% sure) - they're called the Mossimo Low-Rise Boyfriend Shorts ($22.99 and I used a 10% off Mossimo apparel Cartwheel app coupon) and have a 6" inseam which is great when you're bending over a lot with kids and have kids climbing on you, using your leg as a fireman's pole, and just pulling on your clothes in general! LOL! #momlife
Then I picked up two tees for $5 each, one in pineapple print and another with tiny embroidered lemons. So cute!
The other stand-out find was this lace top ($24.99) and these print shorts (just $12) that look like J.Crew or Ann Taylor at a fraction of the price! They look awesome together (scroll down for a photo). In terms of sizing, I find everything by Merona fits me TTS, similar to brands like LOFT. I size up with t-shirts because of shrinkage and sometimes with jackets, too, for layering.
Finally, I was loving all the lightweight shirts and casual shorts from Merona. I don't know why, but when summer hits, I'm all about those weekend-in-the-Hamptons vibes (which is obviously a far cry from my real life but I like to pretend!) - hence the long-sleeve button downs, madras plaid, gingham checks and more. I think the key to making these pieces feel modern and youthful is to mix and match with some edgier finds, for example, pair the check shirt with denim cut-offs.

This lace top is AH-MAZING. It comes in four gorgeous colors that are perfect for summer. It runs TTS (I'm a small in Merona tops) but note that it does not have any stretch to the fabric, so it was a little snug getting it on over my head, and it was almost too snug in the bust area.
And let's talk about these shorts! Just $12 online! These would look amazing with a white tee, a chambray top, or full-blown matchy color like I've done here. Pair with gold jewelry and some cognac wedge sandals (or gold flat sandals) and you've got the ultimate summer party/date night look. So good.
