June Highlights at Target + Dressing Room Review

Target has such cute stuff for summer
Yesterday we went to Target to pick up some fun items to include in a little care package I'm sending to my nephew who will soon be a big brother (my sister's due with baby #2 any day now! Very exciting!) My boys were eager to help pick out small toys and treats, so they were relatively well-behaved while I tried on a few new fashion items in the dressing room first!

When your time is limited, you hone in on special pieces like this off-the-shoulder top that actually looked great with the ruffle up, too, so you could wear a regular bra with it. It looks like tops that easily cost double elsewhere. Just $24.99! Love the embroidery detailing and the fabric. I'm usually a Small in Merona but tried on a XS since there was no S in stock and it fit well. I'd say you could size down or go with your regular size in this top.

Lace Off the Shoulder Dress

I also thought this lace off the shoulder dress was a standout, it looks classy and perfect for vacays or summer date nights. Fully lined, not see through! And just $24.48. It's "boxy" but that's the style now. You could belt it if you want. Fit is TTS.

Off the Shoulder Gingham Top

This off the shoulder gingham top also by Merona is just $24.99, and while I think it looks expensive and the fabric is really, really nice, it just looked unflattering on me. Fit is TTS.

What I actually wanted was white shorts and I bought this pair by Merona (on sale for $12) that's not too short and not too sheer (you can see the panty line if you bend over but not the color/pattern. I'd wear a flesh tone just to cover all my bases lol). Target is having a shorts sale right now with styles starting at just $12! Yeah, I wear "mom shorts" but I'll take that term as a badge of honor. Honestly, why should "mom" be a derogatory descriptor for articles of clothing?! Proud of my body and what it can do. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox...

Next, I tried on a Knox Rose top that was just dreamy. I'm loving all their stuff lately. Unique details, relaxed boho vibes. It's feminine and easy to wear yet special. I couldn't find the top I tried on online but browse Target.com for lots of similar styles.

If you want a white denim short (shown above with the Knox Rose top), these Mossimo hi-rise white shorts are awesome, too, just a little too tight for me but otherwise fit true to size, not sheer. A win for $15.

Lace Yoke Swing Dress

Also, what I need to go back for is this lace yoke swing dress, now just $22.99 online with code DRESSY (and a reader told me it's also 20% off in-store with a Cartwheel app coupon!) So cute. The fabric has a nice bounce to it, and the dress is a trapeze style but cuts in ever-so-slightly for a more flattering fit.

Finally for those wondering, my sandals are also by Merona and are just $14.99. Super comfy, I can easily walk in these all day! I get lots of compliments on these, I think because they're simple and look like real leather. UPDATE: A bunch of readers noticed these are not available for purchase online, so I found this similar pair by Rampage (memory foam insole!) or this pair by Steve Madden (genuine leather under $40!).

Ok, that's it for this trip. Have you bought anything you love at Target lately? Let me know in the comments!

My favorite (and only) camo tee!

This straw bag isn't exactly cheap at $35, but it looks like bags that cost 2 or 3 times as much.

Initial mugs, $4.99. Always a good idea!

I mentioned Target's new baby line Cloud Island in a weekly link round-up post, and this is my first time seeing the display at my store. It replaced the Nate Berkus baby display.

I love your Off the Rack feature. Honestly, you could make a paper sack look good but your picks are always spot on. Thanks for going into the trenches and showcasing realistic clothes for real life budgets. As a fellow mom, I can relate to the perils of shopping with littles. Cheers!

Many many thanks for this kind compliment, Steph. (Did you notice the photo with my 18 month old trying to crawl under the door? Yeah, I scooped him up just in the nick of time! LOL)
