Maternity Jeans Review: Isabel by Ingrid & Isabel at Target

Tips on buying maternity jeans at Target - Isabel by Ingrid and Isabel Maternity Review
I got so many questions about my shopping trip to Target yesterday - shared on Instagram Stories - I decided it would be best to dedicate a post on the new maternity jeans that I tried on (and purchased). Women's jeans are currently 20% off at Target (expires November 11), so whether you are expecting or not, it's a good time to shop.

For reference, I'm 21 weeks along (although since this is baby #3 I look way further along than I actually am LOL).

I wanted a pair of skinny jeans as I already have a pair of Liz Lange for Target bootcuts from my first pregnancy which miraculously still fit. And this pair of boyfriend jeans c/o Destination Maternity (love). But none of my other maternity jeans from baby 1 or 2 still fit. Like, I can't even get them up past my knees. So it was off to Target!

I love the look of the new Isabel Maternity collection. Their namesake brand is sold at stores like Nordstrom at much, much higher prices, so it's awesome Target has this affordable collection. The styles are current, on-trend, and just what I was looking for.

Now for some quick tips:

Jeans are sized numerically. Go with your pre-pregnancy size (more on this later). Pay attention to inseam too.

Choose from a crossover panel (covers entire belly, crisscrosses low in back) or inset panel (elastic inserts on the hips, jean goes under belly).

Things to consider:

Try sitting in your jeans.

What type of tops will you wear? Sometimes the full panel shows through thin tops.

Jeans may stretch and sag (according to you guys). But shrink somewhat in wash.

You and your belly will grow.

Based on these factors, I went up one size from my pre-pregnancy size because I'd rather have sagging than have to squeeze into skintight jeans on day 1. But that's just me.

Ok, now for my dressing room review. Sorry the pics are awful - these are stills pulled from my video. Then again, is shopping for jeans ever glamorous!?

Here's the product photo of the first pair I tried on:

I really loved the look and feel and might go back for this pair! But I was on a mission to get some trendier ones with distressing. So then I tried these:

Here's how they look with the side panels:

I loved these! The cute little rips on the knees, comfy side panel. Even the denim was soft (which was a surprise to me with black denim usually being stiff). Two thumbs up! Size 6. Ahh.

Finally, I tried on this pair:

Love these! This is the pair I ended up buying. Distressed, cropped, just right. I think I can tuck these into riding boots, too. I also did a poll on my Instagram Stories and a whopping 89% of you said get the distressed! Thank you :-)

Hope you find these tips helpful if you're on a quest to find stylish skinny maternity jeans on a budget, too!
