Off the Rack: Jumpsuits Under $25 at T.J. Maxx

Budget Babe Review: Jumpsuits at TJ Maxx
If you’re an avid fashion blog follower or even just shop frequently, you know that jumpsuits are all the rage this spring and summer. With a cousin’s wedding coming up next month in Southern California, I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to try out this trend, instead of the predictable option of a dress.

As Budget Babers, we are always hunting for a good deal (as adorable as the jumpsuits are from Nordstrom and Shopbop…yikes! Bank-breakers). I went with a crowd favorite: T.J. Maxx. And it did not disappoint.

Here are four styles I tried—stay tuned for the one I ended up choosing!

Try-On #1: The Blue Polka Dot Jumpsuit
Brand: One Clothing Los Angeles
Price: $19.99

Hands-down the most comfortable of the four. The material was stretchy and lightweight, but not see-through. I loved the elastic waistband to fit all body types and there was plenty of room up top for the girls—I’m a size 34D-DD, so I find it hard to find dresses/rompers that fit on bottom without the top being too tight or not fitting at all. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of big polka dots, so these tiny white ones on my favorite color blue were cute and right up my alley. I think this one would hold up well through at least a couple of spring/summer seasons. The back is super fun and unique: just a little peep of the low back with a tie! The only reason I didn’t choose this one was because I felt it was too casual for a country club wedding.
I am wearing a size small.

Try-On #2: The Red, White, and Blue Striped Jumpsuit
Brand: Sienna Sky
Price: $19.99

Honestly, I think I would have liked this one better if the legs weren’t cropped, and I also wasn’t in love with the fact that you could see the slip shorts through the top layer of fabric. I wish this was more of an empire waist just below the chest—might have been more flattering on me at least! This was a lightweight chiffon-like fabric with no stretch, except for the waistband. I did however love the back detailing, with the straps looping all the way through the edge of the jumpsuit and turning into a sash in the center. I would suggest wearing a nude or strapless bra with this one.
I am wearing a size medium.

Try-On #3: The Floral Navy Jumpsuit
Brand: Band of Gypsies
Price: $24.99

THE WINNER! I adored this the second I saw it on the rack and had a feeling this would be the one I’d be taking home with me. My only gripe was that it was a bit tough to get my arms into the sleeves, as there is no stretch to the fabric. The first one I took off the rack had a small rip at the center of the V-neckline—thank goodness they had a second one in my size! So this is a good time to remind you to check your items for flaws before purchasing. Anyways, the waistband does have some stretch to it and I liked that the sleeves were fluttery as opposed to tight-fitting, and the leg was full-length. My favorite part, besides the fun pattern, was the tie in front. It doesn’t tighten anything; definitely just for looks.
I am wearing a size medium.

I’m sad to give another not-so-great review, but this was a perfect example of a jumpsuit that fit on the bottom but was a tight squeeze to get the side-zipper to close on top. Smaller chested girls only, here! I adore this bold blue color and I think the waist hits in a perfect spot. This one also had the lightweight chiffon fabric with no stretch, and there is a sash that goes around the waist and ties in the back. I could see this one pairing well with a white moto jacket!
I am wearing a size medium.

As I mentioned, the floral navy jumpsuit is now in my closet! I will for sure wear this on multiple occasions, but for the wedding I will likely pair it with a denim jacket and nude wedges. Any handbag suggestions from you ladies?!
Have you tried on jumpsuits this season? Pulled the trigger on one? Where did you find it? I’m in the market for more!

P.S. Don't forget you can shop T.J.Maxx online! Here are some of my favorite jumpsuits under $25 at tjmaxx.com:

junior dept (disclosure I am not the age range for this dept) has some great ones, found one by Australian something for 19.99, loved it because--great print and not skinny straps, and legs not crazy long for me

That sounds like the perfect romper - I'm not a huge fan of skinny straps either! Wedges always help me when the legs are a little too long!
And thank you for reading :-)
