Target's New Prologue Line Is Your Answer to Business Attire on a Budget

Target's new minimal line Prologue is perfect for work attire on a budget
I'm often asked by readers to suggest outfit ideas for the office that won't break the bank, and now I finally have a good answer: Prologue at Target!

Think Victoria Beckham on a budget.

This new minimalist collection which just launched September 14th offers sophisticated, chic fashions from just $12.99 to $49.99. Prologue will come in sizes 0-16, with many pieces up to 26W available online.

If you work in a corporate/professional office, please chime in and let us know your thoughts on the collection. I got my start at Oprah.com in Chicago so I always refer back to what my superiors wore. It was a more creative work environment so things like this faux leather dress ($39.99) would have worked perfectly well.

I'm eager to check it out in person. If the blouses are in fact, not see-through, and the button-front shirts are hanging wrinkle-free on the hangers, I'll call it a success.

You can read more about Prologue on Target's blog, and you can start shopping it now on Target.com!

Yeah, I wasn't impressed :-(
Check out my review at my blog. On paper, this stuff looks great, but IRL the fabrications are cheap and the sizing is all over the map (either shrunken or oversized). I ended up with a simple navy dress that worked for me (as I'm short) but on most gals it'd be a tunic. If Target would step up the fabric quality and reign in the sizing, then this line would be a win. Right now, it's just a "meh" for me.

Hey! I just read your post, thanks for sharing. Your photos of the items on the racks are definitely not impressive. Yikes! I was skeptical when they said the focus is great fabrics because of course great fabrics cost a lot. I'll report back when I see what my store has.

Hmmm... I'm really liking the looks of that asymmetrical brown wrap skirt.

One thing I want out of life are work pants that aren't as tight as leggings or skinny jeans. Most of it looks okay.

I was really excited that Target was going for a more minimal line (after several consecutive seasons of floral stuff straight out of Season 1 of Blossom), but after seeing it in person I am underwhelmed. I found a large majority of the stuff to be oddly shaped/cut and in unflattering colors (brown, weird orangey nude, olive green). Hopefully they won’t phase out other lines in favor of this one.
