Best of 2018

I wanted to hop on here quickly to take a look back at 2018 and share some top moments with all of you. For longtime readers, you've probably noticed I haven't been able to work on the blog quite as much now that I have three little ones. So I wanted to say thank you for continuing to stop by. Like good friends, we may be out of sight at times but never out of mind! To new friends and fans, welcome! This site started as a place for fashion lovers to gather around a good bargain, and it continues to be just that.

So, what happened in 2018...or should I say, what didn't happen!? If you look at the top left square in my "best of" grid above, you'll see the birth of my daughter Penelope back in March. She's 9 months old now. Adores her big brothers. Loves dancing (she just started swaying to music), sweet potatoes, our dog Baxter (who was sadly diagnosed with cancer but keeps on trucking), paging through books, eating everything and anything off the floor (much to my chagrin) and just being on the move. She's a ray of light in our lives and we couldn't imagine our world without her.

When Penny was just a few weeks old, our town was struck by a rare occurrence for Connecticut - a tornado. I was in the basement with the kids when it happened. In a flash, our lives were turned upside down. We were lucky to be safe and our home had only minor damage, unlike many neighbors. However our woods were knocked down (upwards of 100 trees felled) and the cleanup was a long and costly ordeal. That was definitely a low point but we've been trying to see the silver lining. More sun for a vegetable garden?!

If you look at the center square above, you'll see a Hulk birthday cake I made for Milo's 3rd birthday! You guys loved it! I've been trying to share highlights from my life as a mom on my Instagram Stories, and I love the little community we have. You are all so supportive, whether I'm sharing our struggles (like Milo's allergies and eczema) or our everyday triumphs (like Sebastien starting school - and loving it!) Fashion is still my passion and my "escape," but motherhood is all encompassing and I'm grateful to have support on that journey.

Next to the Hulk cake are some unassuming pumpkins from the Target dollar spot. Who doesn't love Target?! It's still my happy place and one of the reasons I started blogging and posting finds to Instagram back in the day.

Below that, you'll see some items from Walmart that got a LOT of "likes." We all noticed that Wally-world was stepping up their fashion game big time this year. While I've also shared Walmart finds for years, 2018 was especially good, thanks to the launch of their Time and Tru line and more.

Those are just a few snippets from 2018. Honestly, it was a stressful year as anyone with small children can attest, but it was filled with so much love and joy. In 2019, I'm going to make my health a priority. And I'm going to continue to share as much fashion as I possibly can because it fills my bucket (to borrow a phrase from my 5-year-old!)

I want to sincerely thank you for stopping by, and wish each and every one of you a very Happy New Year filled with grace, hope and courage...and cute clothes, too! -xxBB
