Diane Von Furstenberg Country

If you've ever wondered where iconic fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg draws her inspiration, take a drive through Litchfield County, Connecticut. The former princess maintains a longtime residence there at Cloudwalk Farm in the town of New Milford, in addition to her Manhattan apartment. This region of Connecticut which is home to Von Furstenberg's 100-acre, 160-year-old spread, is certainly one of the most beautiful, awe-inspiring parts of the state and perhaps the country. Fall is an especially glorious time as gold, red and orange leaves blanket the rolling hills and carpet forest floors as well as the winding, narrow roads that hug the land. Keep reading to see a few photographs I took last weekend of the area (which really don't do it justice but ah well), including a few shots of the main entrance to Von Furstenberg's beloved Cloudwalk Farm. (The timeworn stone walls are one my favorite features.) Happy fall.

Positively gorgeous!!! Were you in the area for another purpose or did you travel there solely to see DVF's stomping grounds? :-)

We were visiting family. It would make a great day trip if you're ever in these parts!

Beautiful!! That area of Connecticut is just gorgeous (most of Conn. is). Love DVF; didn't know she had a place up here, but it totally makes sense. How wonderful.

Hi Your Good Sailor! Thanks for your comment. I'm told some of DVF's neighbors include Henry Kissinger, Peter Gallagher and Conan O'Brien, to name just a few... :-)

Never knew DVF was so close--awesome!

Unrelated: I emailed you a few days ago about good fall jackets and actually think I found a good one from Old Navy. I'm pretty sure you already wrote about them, but I figured I'd mention it all the same. :-D

Hey Alexandra! Thanks for the tip about Old Navy jackets, I haven't seen them yet. Is the one you bought available online? Would love to see a pic :-)

Absolutely! I got this one in black: http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=5448&pid=610852&scid=610852022

And to boot, got a size smaller than I expected. Double yay!

LOVE it. I want one in each color! I may have to use this in a future post, so thanks again!

I hope you do! :-) I wanted one in each color too; in the store I went to, they actually didn't have the purple (which is what I wanted), but black is classic and slimming--can't argue with that.

Great piece on DVF's fabulous Litchfield County estate as well as the wonderful description of the area. Other famous New Milford neighbors include Joan Rivers & Christopher Meloni. Past famous New Milford residents included actor Frederick March, actress Jean Simmons and playwrite Lillian Hellman.

I live in New Milford and see this farm whenever I drive to my friends house. I did not know that it belonged to DVF but I do now. Its a beautiful property and I recently read that she is starting her own cemetry on the farms grounds. She will be the first to be buried there, which shows how in love she is with this home. Also, Joan Rivers is sadly leaving us here! But Christopher Meloni's house is on my bus route and I can not believe that I man with his money would live in a house the same size as mine! Its awesome having down to earth celebs in my town!
