Off the Rack: Spring Style Finds at Walmart

Fashion at Walmart

I stopped at Walmart the other day to pick up some extremely unglamorous Draino for a clogged sink (which we now believe is a frozen pipe...it's not fun) and took a moment to scope out the spring fashions (or lack thereof). I've worked with Walmart's fashion PR before (more on that here) so I know they have good stuff, but the stores in my area never seem to get any of it. What I did like were some cute cut-off shorts with crochet detailing, high-waist shorts in white, mint and coral, the cap sleeve dress (above) that would be nice for Easter, some striped espadrille flats, striped canvas totes ($9.97, perfect for the beach) and super cheap statement earrings (they look cheap up close but could fool anyone at a dimly lit bar or restaurant). And I left with the most adorable pair of blue and lime green rainboots ($12.46, sold out online) for my little guy - I've bought a great pair of waterproof sandals for my son last summer, so I'm hoping these hold up just as well. In other news, Walmart is making headlines for raising wages, a move that already has T.J.Maxx/Marshalls following suit.

Spring 2015 Trend: Light Blue

Spring 2015 Fashion Trend: Light Blue

Spring 2015 runways brought with them a host of new colors to get excited about, with one of my favorites being light blue (loved how Cynthia Rowley worked this shade with a modern-mod twist!) To make the most of this flattering blue, try a dose with your accessories, like these unexpected kitten heels or funky flatforms. Or go all out with a dress (not shown above) - let the color do the talking and stick with a simple silhouette for maximum impact. To test the waters lightly, try Essie's nail polish in Essie Truth or Flare - it's subtle enough for the office yet still super chic. However you choose to wear light blue this spring, you can easily get the look on a budget - starting with these picks under $60!

Light Blue Picks Under $60:

Oversized Sweatshirt, $39.95 / Flatform Sandals, $32.90 / Pleated Skirt, $14 / Essie "Truth or Flare" Nail Polish, $8.50 / Earrings, $32 / Studded Kitten Heels, $59.90 / Faux Leather Crossbody, $22.90

Spot the Real: Tibi White Peep-Toe Mule

White mules for spring: Which costs more?

Earlier today we featured Victoria Beckham, and now we're looking at a shoe she's popularized on the runways in her own collections: The mule. A bit of a throwback to 90s fashion but reinvented in crisp white leather with a flash of peep-toe, these shoes aren't for everyone but they will be everywhere come spring. See if you can guess which shoe costs $375 (that's $340 more than the look for less!)
