Godiva Celebrates Inspirational Women with the Lady GODIVA Program

Renowned chocolate company GODIVA Chocolatier has launched a new charitable initiative, the Lady GODIVA Program, to celebrate women who embody the attributes of the legendary Lady Godiva through selflessness, generosity, leadership and the spirit of giving back to the community.

Aimed at supporting inspirational women at both a national and local level, the Lady GODIVA Program named FEED co-founder Lauren Bush Lauren as their first National Honoree. FEED has provided over 60 million school meals to children living in 62 countries around the world in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) school feeding program.

On a local level, the Lady GODIVA Program launched an online community where everyone can nominate inspiring women in their communities to take part in regional nomination contests. Regional Honorees will receive $1,000 to continue her good works. Plus, an overall Annual Local Lady GODIVA Honoree will be chosen from the regional women at the end of the year and receive an additional $10,000 grant toward their cause.

From a nominee who helps girls go to high-school, to a woman whose mission is to feed the hungry, these 9 semi-finalists are making a difference in their community every day.

Get to know the Lady GODIVA Program nominees and vote for your favorite!

Plus, check out the latest GODIVA products that support FEED. A limited supply of the FEED 10 bags are still available, providing 10 school meals to children in cocoa-producing regions of Africa for each bag sold. And stay tuned for additional GODIVA + FEED products coming soon.

Kirna Zabete for Target: Off the Rack

On September 9, Target launched its second installment of The Shops at Target, a series of four mini "shops" within the store that showcase original items produced in conjunction with independent boutique owners from around the county. Because it launched during fashion week, I was late to check it out in person but many pieces from the Kirna Zabete fashion line were still in stock in most sizes, as were home decor items from The Curiosity Shoppe and Patch NYC. Overall I thought the fit and construction of the pieces I tried on was really strong, with special attention paid to details like lining sheer garments and adding unique buttons. There were some shortcomings, like the itchy polyester fabric used for a cute polka-dot blouse (shown above) and the narrow cuffs on the shirt dress with blouson sleeves (I couldn't squeeze my wrist through without unbuttoning. Which is fine, I'll live.). I thought one of the strongest pieces in the bunch was a tweed/faux leather shift which looked and felt way more expensive than its $44.99 pricetag. Very Twiggy. Another highlight was a metallic jacquard dress (available in black or burgundy for $49.99) - simple, chic and fit like a glove. For your reference, I'm typically a size XS or S in Target clothing and everything I tried on was a size XS except for the jacquard dress, which was a size 6. Ultimately I didn't buy anything on this trip but I plan on checking back to see if I can score some things on sale. How about you?

Fall Fashion Trend 2012: The Blouse

Reese Witherspoon pink blouse flare jeans burgundy pumps celebrity style
The blouse is always a wardrobe staple, especially for work, but this season it feels a little bit different. It's loose-fitting, sometimes sheer, in new colors and a modern cut. And how you wear it matters to keep things looking fresh: Reese Witherspoon paired her feminine pink bow blouse with casual flare jeans, burgundy pumps and a matching crossbody bag.

Here are some of my favorite blouses under $100 to get the look right now:

Anna Dello Russo at H&M 'Fashion Shower' Video

In a new video titled "Fashion Shower," Anna Dello Russo shows off pieces from her upcoming accessories collection for H&M while teaching viewers everything they need to know about fashion. One of her fashion lessons, for example, states that "Fah-shun is un-com-for-ta-ble. If you're com-for-ta-ble, you never get the look." I've watched it three times (it's mildly addicting) and the only lesson I learned is that I need to start waking up at 6 a.m. to go swimming (like Anna Dello Russo does) so I can get her legs. The Anna Dello Russo at H&M collection hits stores October 4th, 2012.
