Work-Chic Wednesdays: A Casual Leggings Look

Here's a stylish girl-on-the-street (to borrow a phrase from Lucky Mag), who graciously allowed me to photograph her casual yet chic ensemble. I think it's a smart, city look that's perfect for the college student or a casual work environment (think research assistant, tutor, web designer). Black leggings add an arty element, not to mention they're comfortable and perfectly slimming, especially when paired with a draped black skirt—something in soft jersey looks polished but more laid-back than a stiff pencil skirt. A structured button down shirt is both flattering and more professional than a simple tee (swap in something with a ruffled collar or plaid print to make it more trendy for fall). Updated moccasins are super comfortable, but still help you look stylishly pulled together. What do you think, would you give this look a try?

Four Buckle Booties: Would You Wear One?

Shoes that pay homage to the motorcycle boot are cropping up everywhere for fall. Translation: Lots of black leather and buckles! I think this highly-adaptable trend works well on just about everything, from sexy heels (#3) to everyday walking shoes (#2). How about you, would you wear one of the moto-inspired buckle booties shown here?

In My Closet: Mossimo "Kalila" Seamed Ankle Boots

In My Closet: Mossimo

My heart skipped a beat when I spotted these Mossimo "Kalila" Seamed Ankle Boots, which I immediately and unhesitatingly purchased for $29.99 at my local Target. The ruched detailing gives these versatile black ankle boots a modern, slightly edgy twist.

In My Closet: Mossimo

A 4" faux-stacked heel gives me the height I need with certain outfits, while a 0.5" platform provides comfort. The non-skid tread means you can even run in these boots, should the need arise.

I'm sorry for the dismal photo quality (they look way better in person) but I wanted to share my find right away in case anyone else is on the hunt for some cheap-chic ankles boots for a fall. Go get 'em, you won't be disappointed!
