When Banana Republic invited me to wear their trench capelet during New York fashion week, I was hesitant to say the least. Mostly, I was concerned about the volume and how I would style it without looking over the top. But once I tried it on, my fears melted away. A classic capelet with a belt to cinch the waist, in a neutral color, is easy and effortless and you can toss it on over just about anything. Now I'm just sorry I waited so long to try this trend, which seems to come back every season - see looks from the Fall 2012 Hermes (top center) and Chloe runways above for inspiration.

The blouse is always a wardrobe staple, especially for work, but this season it feels a little bit different. It's loose-fitting, sometimes sheer, in new colors and a modern cut. Last spring I took you guys behind the scenes at the Fall 2012 Target press preview in New York City, and you loved the cropped tweed jacket, leopard pants, and tan trench with black piping (among other things).
