Off the Rack: October Offerings at Old Navy

Last week I visited my local Old Navy with another complimentary $100 giftcard in hand, courtesy of Old Navy, to check out the latest offerings and share my commentary. At the front of the store, I was greeted by a table of supersoft turtlenecks in a wide range of colors - I bought one gray and one black - a great deal at $12 a pop! Next, I noticed racks of what appeared to be last month's cargo jackets, but with a new twist - cozy, fleece linings and faux fur trim on the hoods! They were so soft and warm I kinda wished I had waited and purchased the fleece lined version of this jacket but of course, I still like my plaid-lined one.

As I continued into the store, I found a cheerful display of superbright wool coats in colors like red (including this one worn by Kristin Cavallari), cobalt, green and yellow, positioned beside equally bold plaid skirts. Had the skirts been more of a knee-length pencil skirt, I would have bought one of each color. Unfortunately they were a bit too short and full for my personal tastes, but I still thought they looked and felt great. Other highlights for me included a display of pretty embellished ballet flats, fleece lined moccasins (I bought a pair to wear around the house although I've seen more than one college student wearing hers on the street), a faux shearling vest, a long-sleeve henley (I bought one for layering), and a Breton striped long-sleeve tee (I got the royal blue and white one).

Also, if you're in the market for some new Ugg knockoffs, Old Navy has a huge selection including new metallic, rhinestone embellished and tall furry-cuffed takes on this popular winter style.

Last year I had gotten the boots with the buttons on them and unfortunately I only tried one shoe and not both because when I finally got home, one side was much stiffer than the other and it ended up hurting to walk. I would definitely had to break them in and I ended up not wearing them at all. I haven't checked them out this year but hopefully they've made them better.

Two questions:

Is the blue and white striped shirt from Old Navy? If not, where is it from? Adorable!

Also, though I cannot see your necklace up close, I have been looking for one that looks like that. Mind me asking where that's from as well?

Thanks! Great post!

yup, the shirt is old navy! (thx, @kelsey!) - i'm wearing head-to-toe old navy in all the photos except for my jeans (joe's via hautelook) and shoes (ras via ideeli).

my necklace is actually a religious medal that my mom gave me years and years ago but if you're looking for something similar and contemporary, google Helen Ficalora, i think you'll love her stuff.

I love Old Navy for basics and then some. Super affordable, I rarely buy anything regular price. And the striped shirt everyone is commenting on, I picked up two - super soft, love it, definitely on regular rotation in my wardrobe.

This is making me want to stop by Old Navy! Quick question though, what's the material on the Breton stripe? It's adorable but I find ON's polyester and cotton mixes to be really uncomfortable on me :-(.

That royal blue pea coat with the fantastic collar is insanely gorgeous!

You're a great model, bb. Love you casual loose waves.

Ok, I'm loving the cream (white?) sweater in the top pic. Can you please tell me where it's from? Love your choices!

Thank you for the heads up about the sweaters. At $12 each, I will most likely get several colors. I love wearing turtlenecks during the winter.

Love the clothes...wearing the mustard cords (right now) from the last report you had on ON! Thx!!! Received compliments on them already.

As someone else had already mentioned, love the hair! Any tips on how to achieve the loose curls?

thanks!

I love it when you go to stores and show what's on the racks, etc. A lot of fun to read and see what's out there.
