60 Second Beauty: Yes To Naturally Smooth Lip Balm Collection

New Yes To Naturally Smooth Lip Balm Collection review

I’m not a loyalist when it comes to lip balms, but with my chronically chapped lips, I’ve tried out my fair share. You could find pretty much an entire drugstore selection in my handbags, everything from the stand-by Chapstick, a tin of rosy Vaseline, fresh Sugar Lips, and even a desperate “Did I seriously just pay $15 for a chapstick?” from Caudalie. I’ve never found a cure-all for my parched lips, though, so I was really excited to check out these new all-natural offerings from Yes to! Because I have my mother to thank for this genetic gift, I enlisted her help as well. Here's how it went...
WHAT THEY SAY: Say YES to awesome new lip balms that provide long lasting nourishment, softness and they fit just about anywhere! These NEW must-have Yes to Naturally Smooth Lip Balms ($2.99) are great for on-the-go use and will be a staple item in every girl’s [or boy’s] beauty bag. WHAT WE THOUGHT: My mom and I tried all three flavors of Yes to Naturally Smooth Lip Balm. She first grabbed the Blueberry, while I went for Pomegranate. The Blueberry was a sort of murky cream color—kind of like Vaseline—while the Pomegranate was opaque white. Both had strong, distinct scents (the blueberry was strongest). The Grapefruit flavor looked just like the Blueberry, but I couldn’t seem to smell anything.

My mom absolutely LOVED Yes to Naturally Smooth Lip Balm in Blueberry and said it was super soft, creamy, and instantly brought relief to her dry lips. Meanwhile, I found the Pomegranate—the only flavour with an SPF of 15—slightly grainy, certainly not buttery like my mom said hers was. When I tried the Grapefruit, though, I definitely got the same feeling—soft and nourishing! I would assume the Pomegranate’s slight grittiness could be attributed to the SPF, which is a great benefit, but didn’t give us the relief of the others.

None of the flavors had any taste, which I appreciated. The wear time was pretty average for lip balms, I think—we both reapplied every hour or so.

Another thing to take note of is the unique oval-shape of the Yes to Naturally Smooth Lip Balms—and both my mom and I loved it! Turned on its side, the oval glides easily along the contours of your lips—even into the corners where I tend to get most chapped! Also nice about the oval is that it won’t roll off your desk or table to join the millions of other lost chapsticks and pens and socks lurking around. I think this was a really clever design move by Yes to, and really effective!

OVERALL: The Yes to Naturally Smooth Lip Balms are a great choice for any all-natural beauty fiend or lip balm-lover. The Blueberry flavor has become a fixture in my mother’s pockets, but I’m still less committed, and I’d probably grab my rosy Vaseline or fresh Sugar Lips before reaching for Yes to Naturally Smooth Lip balms, even though they were quite nice. These are great all-natural wonders for a quick fix, and the oval shape makes it a little harder to lose them—can't go wrong!

Yes to Naturally Smooth Lip Balms are available for $2.99 each at Target, target.com and yestocarrots.com.

My derm has suggested Dr. Dan's Cortibalm for severe chapped lips. I used to put it on at night before bed. Link:http://www.drdanslipbalm.com

Good old vaseline, takes some beating, although I like the pretty lip balms that have a nice smell.
