Burt's Bees new lipstick review
The holidays may have come and gone but I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when a beautiful package recently arrived for me from Burt's Bees. Inside the bright red box with a brown honeycomb lasercut sleeve were nestled all 14 of the good-for-you beauty company's new line of lipsticks. Much like a new box of crayons, I couldn't wait to dive in and test each of the 14 full coverage, satin-finish shades...at the same time, I decided to ration them out, testing one a day (anyone else hate ruining that perfect tip on a fresh lipstick?) You can easily treat yourself to these lipsticks, too, because they're just $8.99 each and available at Target.

Here's what I discovered about the new line: Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lipsticks soften and condition lips thanks to a natural formula of Moringa, Raspberry Seed Oil, Beeswax, and Vitamin E. Moringa oil is full of essential fatty acids and helps to soften and condition skin, while Raspberry seed oil improves skin elasticity, keeping your lips feeling lovely.

Burt's Bees lipsticks have a creamy, lightweight feel which makes them ideal for everyday wear. I don't wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis but I love how easy it is to just grab a lipstick and apply a quick swipe of color for an instant pick-me-up. The flattering assortment of colors ranges from bold berries to soft neutrals; they're natural-looking and would work for a wide range of complexions and occasions.

Two of my favorite shades right now are Suede Splash - it's a like a darker, more saturated version of my natural lip color. This shade would be great for the office or just everyday life when you want some intensity without being showy. Another favorite is Sunset Coral which doesn't look coral in the tube but definitely reads as a bright coral pink on my lips - it's exactly the thing you need when there's something missing from your outfit. Cheerful and chic!

My beauty resolution for the New Year is to basically not let myself go (aiming high here, people! LOL) which means doing at least one mini beauty routine each day, whether it's styling my hair, applying eyeliner, a little blush, or trying a new color on my lips. I think treating yourself to a new lip color from Burt's Bees is the perfect way to keep your beauty resolutions for 2016, especially if you're looking for products made with better-for-you ingredients.

I also love that Burt's Bees is all natural so I can feel good about putting these on my skin as a nursing mama, and not worry about a little smudge when I kiss my two dear sweethearts (one of which is pulling on my arm as I attempt to type this post!) Its natural ingredients offer moisturizing coverage for your lips—a lipstick that loves you back.

Have you tried new Burt's Bees lipsticks? What beauty resolutions are you aiming for this year?

Can you comment on the longevity of the color? I'm hooked on BareMinerals Moxie lipsticks which for me have super long lasting color and are moisturizing, but at half the price these look like they could be a serious contender if the color lasts awhile.

Let me try to do a controlled experiment and get back to you - my experience so far is that they last as long as any other lipstick that's not specifically a "longlast" lip color, that is, after drinking, eating, etc. the color needs to be reapplied but enough color stains your lips so it's not unmanageable in between touch-ups. Also it depends on the shade as some seem to last a bit better than others. Color doesn't fade or bleed so that's a huge plus. They've exceeded my expectations, if that says anything! Hope these work out for you if you give them a try.

I definitely am going to purchase a couple of these when I clear out my makeup drawer this spring. Before that, I need to google and view some swatches since I can't see that in store. I love the idea of wearing a natural product on my lips.

Where did you purchase the red box set? I've only seen individual lipsticks for sale.

The box set was courtesy of the brand for the purpose of this post, and I believe was only available in store for a limited time. If they become available again I'll let you know!
