Ask BB: Cowboy Boots on a Budget

I will spend this upcoming summer holed up in a library in the midwest, studying for the bar exam. The only consolation to this impending doom is my plan to wear adorable summer dresses paired with cowboy boots. I have many options with respect to the former: I need some help with the latter. So, I guess my question is: Where can I get some adorable cowboy boots to pair with dresses for summer wear? —Stephanie

Without a doubt, handcrafted cowboy boots should be in every fashion connoisseur's closet, but a quality pair can easily cost hundreds of dollars. Here are some affordable western-inspired boots that you can wear this summer as a student. (And when you pass the Bar and start making the big bucks, you can splurge on a pricier pair!)

[1] Steve Madden "Saddle", Now $79.95 at
[2] Chinese Laundry "Two Step", Now $89.99 at
[3] "Cissota" boot, $69.99 at
[4] Coconuts "Olga" Leather Ankle Boot, Now $99.95 at

I'm SO excited about this post! I've been looking for a pair of quality cowboy boots for some time now, and even though I'll probably keep saving for a pair of Frye boots (I really want the real thing), I'm loving some of these less expensive options!

Question: never having owned a pair of cowboy boots, I'm genuinely curious--doesn't it get hot wearing them in the summer? That's why I love my flip flops!

I thought Wal-Mart was supposed to have some for their L.E.I. line. Taylor Swift is wearing a pair that say lei in one of the ads. Does anyone know anything about these??

Another good place to get leather cowboy boots is the Goodwill, especially if you live in the southwest! A couple of years ago I got a fabulous pair for Frye Boots for $7.00. Dillards is also great right around seasonal clearance time, especially if you go to one of their clearance centers.
